We are back to post-weekend action with MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, with just a couple of picks for this evening.
Everton travel away to Sunderland with the aim of maintain the great form that they have already shown to begin this season with 2 wins and a draw. Everton have started out strongly under new manager Moyes, improving their defence while selling John Stones. In attack, he has continued to develop a strong supporting midfield including Duelofeu, Mirallas and Barkley to help Lukaku up front. The Belgian forward has not yet scored a goal this campaign; and will need to turn around his campaign fast or else that Everton will have to rely on Kone, Niasse or even Enner Valencia. Ross Barkley and Duelofeu will be key to create chances for their forwards, and even break on the counter attack to score goals against a struggling Sunderland defence.
Sunderland have been struggling so far this campaign losing 2 games while drawing the other; and their defensive record has not been the best to keep opposition at bay. Sunderland will be missing out on Mannone, O’Shea, Larsson and Jones are definitely out while Kirschoff, Cattermole and Pickford will face a few late fitness tests to see if its ready. Jermaine Defoe has been the consistent performer for Sunderland, and he has already netted twice from three games so far. The supporting cast for Sunderland hasn’t been great so far; and under pressure they have failed to deliver even in a winnable game like Middlesbrough.
It seems that Sunderland’s time has finally come to get relegated, and I have no hesitation in backing an Everton win; but to be on the safe side, I will back them on the Asian Markets to ensure some refund in case of a draw.
