Soccer Saturday is where most of us get a football fix for the week, the most football games in the world are played on this day, so plenty of chances to make some money.
Manchester City and Manchester City battle in the Manchester Derby with the focus being on both the managers for tomorrow as Jose Mourinho taking on Pep Guardiola. Manchester City come into this game without their key striker Aguero which will make things difficult for them to find the back of the net. Manchester City line will be led by Nigerian youngster Iheanacho who has been in great form at club and international level so far. His ability to run at speed will help him to past defenders and Manchester United are extremely keen to keep clean sheet that might see them clear balls away. Raheem Sterling, fresh from his player of the month award, and Nolito have been excellent in the wide spots, creating opportunities for the front players. Then there is also Silva who has a license to roam and create opportunities that often lead to corners when he is in the wider spots or when he swings the ball from the wrong direction.
Manchester City’s wide players along with their full backs Kolarov and Zabaleta have seen them bomb forward and they have averaged 7 corners per game, and that has helped them create opportunities and win all their games so far this campaign. Manchester City’s corners average was 5.4 for last season away from home and 7 across all games; so this line of 4.5 is quite low. I expect the City lineup to continue on their bombing forward and force United into saves to concede corners, so will back them to get 5 corners in this match.
Leicester City, the Champions, travel away to Liverpool in search of their second victory of the season after they have won 1, drawn 1, lost 1 so far. Leicester have scored 3 goals in 3 games, but conceded goals against Swansea and Hull City; which will not bode a lot of confidence for the side. Kasper Schmeichel is back and fit and that should land some confidence at the back for their side. Its the offensive end of Leicester’s game that should prove interesting in this encounter as Mahrez, Vardy along with Musa should start with new signing Slimani expected to come off the bench to give some additional attacking input in this encounter.
Liverpool have been a mixed bag so far, while they beat Arsenal by a score of 4-3; they then went and lost 2-0 to Burnley before matching Tottenham in a tight 1-1 draw away from home. Today they welcome the champions on their home turf in front of their brand new expanded crowd of 54,000 which should 8,000 more supporting fans to help cheer on the Kop. Liverpool however have been in defensive disarray coming into this encounter with Klavan and Sakho hoping to be fit ahead of this game to give Loveren some help, but with Mignolet at the back, things look difficult for Liverpool who have leaked 6 goals in their 3 games played this campaign so far.
Leicester City will be confident of keeping things tight as has been seen from their last 3 games against Liverpool where they won 2-0; lost 1-0 and drew 2-2. Any of those results will see us not lose our pick today which will be backing Leicester City on the Asian Handicap; and this price is too big not to back the champions of England on.
Celtic and Rangers clash once again in the Old Firm Derby for the first time since 2012 in the Premier League. Celtic have started life under new manager Brendan Rodgers by qualifying for the Champions League, and will have one eye first fixture against Barcelona in mid-week. Celtic have dominated the Old Firm derby especially in front of their home fans and that will be looking to bring a rapturous noise to help the team win. While Celtic are the favourites due to their continuous challenge at this level, in a derby like this sometimes favourites tag can be out of the door. Celtic have been in great scoring form netting 10 goals in their 3 games so far, but have been leaky on the defensive end conceding goals 4 goals in this game. Celtic’s defence has been shaky where they had conceded 6 goals in their 4 Champions League qualifying games and that will give Rangers hope that they will be able to score in this game.
Rangers will be all excited to play well in this game especially for the players who stayed loyal with the team over the past 4 years. Rangers have started out the season well, remaining undefeated so far; drawing 1-1 against Hamilton and Kilmarnock and winning 2-1 against Motherwell and Dundee. Kenny Miller has loved the Old Firm derby and even netted the opening goal in the Scottish Cup Semi-Final last year that saw the game finish 1-1 after regulation time. Rangers will rely on Waghorn, Forrester and McKay up front who can find the back of the net.
This game will look to be an extremely cagey affair, but I don’t see how both teams are going to keep a clean sheet given their recent poor record of conceding in every game this season in the league; so I am backing the Both Teams to Score in this encounter.
Napoli have started out their campaign in good fashion and finding the back of the net nonstop since the pre-season began. Napoli have scored 6 goals in the 2 encounters so far with Milik, Martens and Callejon netting 2 goals each for them in the campaign. Napoli will be aware of their European commitments in the Champions League and will want to get their scoring form in sync before their travels to Kiev in mid-week. They have plenty of talents to help them including Gabbiadini, Rog, Insigne, Giaccherini to come off the bench to give them additional scoring power. Defensively though Napoli have been shaky leaking 4 goals in the 2 games so far as their defence has had many lapses in concentration where they blew a 2 nil lead in both of their games played so far.
Palermo are one of the teams that look destined for relegation despite their ability to steal a point from Inter Milan last weekend. While they opened the scoring against a weak Inter side, their goal was continuously under threat for the entire game. Diamanti and Embolo are the only 2 potential goal threats for the squad. Since February they have only won 3 Serie A games and that does not bode confidence when you travel to take on the 2nd best team in Italy who are always up for goals.
I expect Napoli to run riot in this game and keep their goal scoring on-going and I am backing this game to have over 2.5 goals.
Borussia Dortmund started out their season a strong 2-1 victory against Mainz 2 weeks ago and they will be looking to continue their strong performances in this game building their form as they will head for a good winnable fixture against Legia Warsaw. Dortmund travel away to take on one of the great success stories in German Football in Red Bull Leipzig. Dortmund will be facing their opponents for the first time, and already have the pressure on them to get a win especially since Bayern have already sealed 2 victories in their opening 2 games this campaign. Dortmund have established a pretty strong squad coming into this season with a strong offensive unit in Aubamayeng, Reus, Schurrle and Kagawa up front. Reus will probably come off the bench in this game, so they will rely on Dembele to start in his place. They have strong back up unit of good players including Gotze, Rode, Mor, Ramos among their forward lineups who could start up front.
Dortmund always have strong players running into good positions offensively and with the full backs in Bartra, Guerrero, Piszczeck and Schmelzer; all of whom like to bomb forward and get cross into the box. Dortmund have always attacked and that has seen the team secure an average of 5.7 corners between this season and last season, and already started this season with 7 corners in their opening encounter.
Leipzig are the new team in the Bundesliga, and their single aim out of this encounter will be to take a point out of it, which would raise the confidence in the squad as they slowly get to grips with the Bundesliga campaign. They will probably sit back and absorb the pressure from Dortmund, and that should seem them clear a lot of balls at the back to get corners.
I expect Dortmund and their strong wingers to keep bombing forward and pushing on to score which might result to corners and over 5.5 corners for Dortmund at the price of 1.90 seems too good to refuse.
