Super Saturday is the day most of the world are sitting at home, extremely chilled an looking to make their next profits by diving through the world of football. I have short listed a few picks that could hopefully be that answer.
Manchester City have started the Pep Guardiola revolution in spanking fashion. They have won 4 straight competitive fixtures, scored 12 goals in the bargain while conceding 3 goals. Hit-Man Sergio Aguero has been in cracking form already netting 6 goals in that time, 3 in the league and 3 in the Champions League. He has got plenty of service from players like Sterling, De Bruyne, Nolito and Navas to help set up his goals, while 2 penalties during that time has also helped his cause. City’s focus now will be on improving the defensive end and the signing of Claudio Bravo can start that off, as he will make his debut after the international break. Otamendi and Stones will continue their understanding of each other at the centre of the defence surrounded by Zabaleta and Kolarov on the wings to give assistance.
West Ham were dumped out of the Europa League in mid-week in what was supposed to be their biggest game of the season and that too in front of their home fans. The various injuries of Dmitri Payet, Andre Ayew, Sofia Feghouli, Diafra Sakho, Manuel Lanzini, Aaron Cresswell and Andy Carroll have surely dented Slaven Bilic’s plans of making a good start to the new campaign. The problem for West Ham with the number of players injured is where are the goals going to come from, which is where they got stranded to Astra in mid-week and with Antonio luckily snatching a late goal for them last weekend. Defensively West Ham are good against teams that play at the pace they like, but Manchester City and Pep’s offensive style might be a shade to quicker for a team that just played on Thursday night.
I cannot see how West Ham find the back of the net here, and that confidence could show into their play on the defensive end, and I expect Manchester City to win this game relatively comfortably in front of their home fans.
England Premier League
West Brom v Middlesbrough – Over 2 Asian Goal Line @ 1.98 (Bet365) – 2 points
West Bromwich Albion welcome Middlesbrough to their ground at the Hawthorns looking forward to get their first win in front of their home fans after losing to Everton last weekend by a score of 2-1. West Brom will also feel a sense of exhaustion coming into this fixture as many of their regular starters played 120 minutes in mid-week EFL Cup action which resulted in a loss after a penalty shootout for Tony Pulis’ men. West Brom have been pretty decent on the offensive end scoring in all their games played so far, which will bring confidence that they can get a result if Rondon and Berahino come to the party. Defensively the Baggies look a bit shaky after conceding 4 goals during the last weeks 2 games, and that can keep them wide open to conceding against a good counter-attacking Middlesbrough team.
Boro have a lot of confidence coming into this game after taking 4 points from their opening 2 games with goals from Negredo and Stuani helping them reach there. Boro also played in the EFL Cup for 120 minutes, but Karanka rotated a large part of his squad to give his fringe players some time on the pitch ahead of a busy campaign. The forward play of Ramirez and Downing providing support for for Stuani and Negredo have been plain to see for all that has helped them score their goals on the counter attack. Boro have also yet to unleash striker Jordan Rhodes, and that could be an option in this game. Boro’s weakness has been on the defensive end where they have conceded a goal in all of their 3 competitive games so far, with Brad Guzan the favourite to be in between the sticks as Valdes is out injured.
This game should be an extremely cagey affair, and I think we might see both teams finding the back of the net, but just in case I am backing over 2 Asian Goal Line in this encounter.
Barcelona started off their campaign in the same way that they finished last season, winning games, thumping opposition with Messi and Suarez running the show. Messi smashed in 2 goals while Suarez scored a hat-trick as Barcelona beat Real Betis by a score of 6-2. While Barcelona will not yet have Neymar; Arda Turan, Ivan Rakitic and Munir have been giving plenty of support to the front 2. Defensively is where Barcelona might struggle in this game given the fact that Claudio Bravo has gone off to Manchester City, while Ter Stegen is unsure of participating due to a knock. Barcelona will feel confident coming into this game winning all 4 meetings between the 2 sides last season; covering a 1 goal handicap in 2 of them, while refunding in the other 2.
Athletic Bilbao got off to a horrible start to the new season losing to Sporting Gijon by a score of 2-1; and were already out of it conceding 2 goals in a span of 3 minutes right after the half time break. Athletic Bilbao’s biggest concern will be on the goal scoring efforts as veteran Aduriz and Inaki Williams are the major 2 sources of goals for them. They have enough players like Garcia, Susaeta and Muniain to give them service, but will be difficult to see how they find the goals to win. Mikel Rico and Ager Aketxe will be out of their team coming into this encounter. Bilbao have traditionally struggled in this fixture and will not feel contended that this tie has come so early in the season, when their form is still yet to develop.
I expect Barcelona to march on their merry way in this game, and I am backing them on the Asian Handicap; if they happen to just win the game by less than 2 goals, you get a refund here.
Roma will be severely disappointed playing this game against Cagliari after getting knocked out of the Champions League qualifying, going down to 9 men, showcasing some poor disciplined. They now come back to familiar territory in the Serie A, where they secured a solid 4-0 victory last weekend against Udinese and will be licking their lips in this one against recently promoted Cagliari. Roma have a strong attacking lineup with Salah, El Sharaawy and Dzeko up front and supported in the midfield by Nainggolan, Strootman and Florenzi. They have sured up their defence as compared to last year adding experienced Vermaelen and Antonio Rudiger to add a lot of options.
Cagliari came up after spending a year in the 2nd division and started out their first game with a great 1-0 start, before they were brought down back to earth by Genoa and lost by a score of 3-1. Cagliari usually play a 3-5-2 formation which might give an advantage for the Roma playmakers Strootman and Nainggolan to enjoy themselves in the middle of the park. They have several injuries to contend with as Dossena, Pedro and Melchiorri will be missing from this tie. Cagliari will be aware of the fact that they have lost 3 straight ties to Roma with Cagliari’s last win coming back in 2013.
Roma will be confident and will be on the get go in this game looking to secure all 3 points, and I expect them to continue their strong performances once again in the league.
