Super Saturday is the day most of the world are sitting at home, extremely chilled an looking to make their next profits by diving through the world of football. I have short listed a few picks that could hopefully be that answer.
Arsenal start another league season aiming for the title after landing in 2nd spot last season. The Gunners will have needed to strengthen in 3 positions and have secured the services of Xhaka in midfield and Mustafi at central defence, but are as yet to find a striker to backup Welback and Giroud. Arsene Wenger might be tempted to use Alexis Sanchez as a striker with Ramsey, Walcott and Carzola behind him. They will have to rely on the pace of these 4 in order to help them score goals due to injuries to Giroud and Ozil from their attacking strengths. They will have to depend on a lot on their defensive midfield with Xhaka and Coquelin likely to start there in this game, as they are fighting with only 1 fit centre back in Koscielny who is not sure of starting this game. This will probably leave Chambers and Montreal to sit in at centre back. Petr Cech has not had a good European Championship and with 2 weaker defenders in front of him, I can expect that Arsenal will likely concede a goal.
Liverpool are a very unpredictable team as Jurgen Klopp is still building a team in his mould, and it will take him a few more weeks to play in the fashion that he would like them to play. Liverpool’s biggest dilemma is up front where Sturridge is injured while Origi is still building up his fitness after an extended break following his attendance in the European Championship. Liverpool will look to start Firmino in the false 9 role, and he should be well supported by Wjnaldum, Mane and Coutinho. The midfield should see Henderson and Milner occupying those spots. Defensively Liverpool have new signing Klavern should slot in along side Loveren as starting centre back Sakho is out injured. With Moreno and Clyne looking to bomb on forward, it leaves room for the Arsenal wingers to run past them to create opportunities. Liverpool showcased some strong performances against Barcelona 1 week ago, but when they were put under pressure against teams like Chelsea and Roma, they were able to concede.
The buckets of both teams are leaky and I expect there to be at least 3 goals to be scored, much like it has in 5 out of the last 6 games between the 2 sides.
England Premier League
Bournemouth v Man Utd – Over 2,2.5 Asian Goal Line @ 1.90 (Bet365) – 3 points
Bournemouth survived their first season in the Premier League extremely well, and if it wasn’t for many injuries suffered, they would have probably finished higher than the 16th they finally finished on. Bournemouth will look to their new signing Jordan Ibe as well as a fit again Callum Wilson and their January signing Afobe to contribute to their performances on the offensive end. The energetic winger Junior Stanislas is unfortunately out of this game, as he create a lot of chances for the team on the offensive end, while they also sold Matt Ritchie to showcase a potential lack of creative talents in the team for this game. Bournemouth were overwhelmed playing Manchester United on the 2 occasions, as United buried 4 goals past them in the 2 games played, but they did manage to snatch one victory out of the two. Defensively is where you have to worry on Bournemouth, and will hope that they will be minimise the damage against a strong Manchester United team.
Manchester United are reinvigorated by the signing of new manager Jose Mourinho, as well as new players like Ibrahimovic, Mkhitariyan and Bailly who slot in straight away in the starting XI of Manchester United. They will be without defensive stalwart Chris Smalling and new signing Paul Pogba, who are banned from this encounter and will have to wait until next week to make their debuts. Their talismanic captain Wayne Rooney will continued to be relied on, as he plays in the no.10 role just behind Ibrahimovic. United will have plenty of pace on the wings with Shaw and Valencia bombing forward to give support to Martial and Mkhitariyan. Manchester United have been in free flowing form on the attacking end, scoring in all of their pre-season games as well as in the 2-1 win over Leicester City in the Community Shield, but it will have to be seen how they perform on the defensive end especially after conceding against Leicester City in poor defensive understanding among the midfield and defence.
This game looks like the makings of a good one as Mourinho will set the stall out to win the game, but the players that Manchester United and Bournemouth have, it makes good for some counter-attacking football, and we are likely to see goals in this game.
Lyon come into this fixture after an embarrassing loss in French Super Cup to PSG by a score of 4-1. Lyon despite keeping a strong team on the board but lost Umtiti who left to Barcelona, and that left them weaker at the back as was seen from the loss last week. Prior to that however, Lyon had some good performances in pre-season with wins against Zenit, Benfica and Sporting Lisbon. Alex Lacazette is going to be extremely key for the team as he aims to score goals to lead them again to a strong position and he will be backed up by his partner in crime in Nabil Fekir.
Nancy stormed through a Ligue 2 to claim the title and will now start their new campaign with a home game against Lyon in the new season. They have had a pretty average pre-season and we have nothing major to write about them other than the fact they have made some decent signings. Strikers Anthony Koura and Christophe Mandanne have been snapped up as they will look to score goals to keep them up in the top fight for another season. Defensively, it will remain to be seen if they can match up to the big teams in Ligue 1, like Lyon who will constantly put pressure on them.
Matches between the 2 sides were last played back in 2013 when Nancy were a regular. During that time they had played 10 matches in a row that saw a minimum of 2 goals being scored during those games, and I am backing a minimum of 2 goals to be scored, with 3 goals seeing us winning this pick.
