We are back to club league football action starting this weekend with FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
France Ligue 1 Champions PSG have kicked off in great style this season by winning all 5 of their pre-season games so far this campaign, while also smashing a strong Lyon side by a score of 4-1 in order to win the French Super Cup. While they have lost a giant player in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, they bought in return Ben Arfa, Krychowiak and Jese to help strengthen a good side who still has good talent with the likes of Pastore, Moura, Di Maria, Cavani among their offensive talents who will still help them score enough goals. Unai Emery has been a person who has focussed on strong defensive form and then have quick players to break on the counter-attack as we saw last week. He will have Veratti, Motta and Matuidi sitting in the middle to give enough support and pace to the attacking front 3. His full backs of Aurier and Kuruzawa should plenty of pace and creative ability from wide to deliver a strong offensive performance.
Bastia come into this game with losses in 3 out of their last 4 friendly games, and that too against opposition that are not as strong as what they will face tonight from PSG. Bastia managed to sit comfortably in mid-table in 10th position. They lost both their games last year to PSG by a score of 2-0 Bastia haven’t made many signings this season from good clubs, just bit-part players who can help them ensure survival for another year. They lost 3 of their talented players in Kaman, Palmiery and especially Ayite who was their leading goal scorer with 8 goals last season. Forwards Raspentino and Diallo are going to miss this game with injury, so that will be difficult for them up front.
I expect PSG to continue on their merry way and trounce to a solid victory on opening night of the French Ligue 1 season to put a marker for all their opponents.
