Soccer Saturday is where most of us get a football fix for the week, the most football games in the world are played on this day, so plenty of chances to make some money.
Southampton have been pushing for a lot of wins to try and sneak into a Europa League spot this season, and have been in decent form recently beating Liverpool, Stoke and Newcastle in the recent 5 weeks while they managed to draw with Everton despite leading 1-0 up. Southampton defensive unit has been struggling in recent weeks leaking goals in 8 straight games right now, and the can leave a bit of room for Aston Villa to attack them, especially since Villa are doomed to the Championship. Southampton will rely on the scoring efforts of Pelle, Tadic and Long to help them score which they have done in recent weeks. They will fancy their chances against a weak Villa side who have been on a trot of 9 straight losses.
Aston Villa have been among the worst teams in the Premier League history with among the lowest points tally in many years. They have been really struggling with just 16 points in 34 games, and the biggest problem has been all over the pitch. There are rumblings going on in the back room, and they are now on their 2nd caretaker manager for the year after Sherwood and Garde been sacked so far. Agbonlahor has been sent on fitness treatment while Lescott has gotten into heat for his comments against the club, and could also be dropped from this encounter. They have struggled both home and away, and you could see a lot of youth players thrust into the squad to see if they can be suitable for the Championships plans for next season.
Southampton will be licking their lips on this encounter and I expect them to win this game, and with the Asian Handicap, if they win by 2, we are going to be in the money.
Liverpool have been in sublime form coming into this encounter against Newcastle United after smashing Everton by a score of 4-0, and will be looking to continue that rich vein of form and a win can push them into the Europa League spots, just 2 points behind Manchester United and potentially 4 behind Manchester City. Liverpool have relied a lot on their talented attacking lineup to contribute to goals in Origi, Sturridge, Coutinho, Firmino and Lallana have all be in in great form coming into this encounter. Origi unfortunately will be out of the lineup after getting injured in mid-week, which means Sturbridge will start up front, hoping to add to his tally having scored in 3 straight Premier League encounters against a Newcastle defence who have leaked goals in 8 out of their last 9 games.
Newcastle have been struggling but managed to sneak out a valuable point in mid-week against Manchester City but that was when they were in front of their home fans. Now as they travel away to Anfield, the atmosphere will be something that the Rafa Benitez and his troops will not feel welcomed by. With Sunderland taking on Arsenal and this tough encounter against Liverpool, it will be tough to see how these 2 sides will climb out. The last 4 games of Newcastle are Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Tottenham. They have 6 points that are winnable games, so they might push strong against Liverpool to try and steal points but that could leave them vulnerable to the counter attack.
Liverpool have been in outstanding scoring form, netting 14 goals in their last 4 games, and one could expect them to continue their scoring form and beating Newcastle as they march towards the Champions League spots. I am backing Liverpool to win on the Asian Handicap as I expect them to thrash Newcastle in this game.
Brighton are now in the thick of the run in and will be hoping their promotional contenders in Burnley and Middlesbrough will drop points to give them a shot at the automatic promotion spot. They are currently sitting in 3rd due to their goal difference being +28 while Burnley’s is +32 goals. Their goal scoring form picked up big time winning 4-0 and 5-0 in their last 2 encounters, so one can expect them to continue this scoring form led by Hemed (3 goals), Knockaert (3 goals) while other players like Wilson and Baldock chipping in to help the team score plenty of goals. The motivation is surely with them to score and win this game to keep the pressure on their title rivals with 3 matches to go.
Charlton are relegated to League One after the disappointing results last week with a loss and a draw. They have struggled to score which has been the reason why they have struggled with 37 goals in 43 games. Charlton will feel that they have nothing to play for and might rotate the squad to give opportunities to some fringe and young players to get some experience ahead of their new division that they will head down to next year. Brighton have beaten Charlton by a score of 3-2 and 1-0 in their last 2 meetings, when it was tight and both teams had something to play for.
Now its only Brighton who have something to play for, and I expect Brighton to continue their strong scoring form and thrash Charlton in this game on their way to promotion, and thats why I back Brighton on the Asian Handicap in this one.
