As Super Sunday arrives, many top leagues around the world have football action happening, so we aim to look at some good opportunities to make profit in them.
Liverpool host Stoke City after a tough trip in mid-week to Dortmund and will probably rotate the squad as they look to keep it fresh for their Europa League campaign in mid-week in order to push in for the quarter finals. Liverpool will look to start Daniel Strurridge and Firmino up front as they didn’t participate much in mid-week looking to keep the squad fresh and rotated. Exhaustion will definitely play a part for this Liverpool side who played on Thursday night, with a full squad against Dortmund and the high pressing game, also would have kept them on their toes throughout the game. Liverpool will have to be careful due to numerous injuries they face including Benteke, Henderson, Gomez and Ings out while Emre Can is suspended for this encounter. Liverpool’s have struggled against Stoke, where games have been tight including Stoke beating Liverpool in the Capital One Cup Semi-final at Anfield. Liverpool’s defence has been quite poor having leaked goals in 6 out of their last 8 games just shutting out the 2 Manchester clubs during that run.
Stoke will feel that momentum needs to shift towards their side and they will look to attack a tired Liverpool as they go in pursuit of 6th spot, which could get them into the Europa League for next season. Stoke have been playing decently well having lost just 1 game in their last 7, in a thrilling 2-1 loss to Southampton. Players like Shaqiri, Arnautovic, Bojan, Affelley who have all build up a good understanding with each other and strong momentum offensively. While Stoke have scored in each of their last 7 games, the numerous injuries that they have seen defensively, seen them concede in 6 out of those 7 games. Johnson, Butland, Given, Wilson are all the defensive injuries while Walters and Whelan also miss out due to injury.
This game will be an exciting one, and I think that the each teams form has been clear to be good on the offensive end, but struggling on the defensive end, and I think Both Teams will score in this encounter.
Tottenham take on Manchester United in a pivotal clash in the Premier League. Should Tottenham lose in front of their home fans, they can kiss their chances of winning the title goodbye especially of Leicester wins their game earlier in the day.
Tottenham know that winning is the only way that they can do it to stay alive in the hunt for the title. This means attacking on goal and creating plenty of opportunities in order to win. With Lamela back in the fray on the wing along with Walker and Rose they should get plenty of service from wide areas. Through the midfield they will get plenty of drive from Alli and Eriksen. Such attacking threat has seen 6 out of the last 7 games for Tottenham with over 11 corners in the match, while they have knocked in average of 9 corners per game themselves showcasing their attacking intent.
Manchester United have started play like United of the yester years with a lot of wing play led by Martial and Lingard on either wings, while being support by Mensah and Darmian. They have also the pace of Rashford, the guile of Mata and the strong runs from midfield from Herrera to help them continue to attack as the team battles to secure a Champions League spot for next season. United have taken the attack to their opponents seeing 5 out of their last 7 games go for over 11 corners, and they have knocked an average of 6 corners per game themselves.
This has all the makings of a great game, and I find myself getting involve in this game only through the corners market, which appeals for great value on 2 teams who love attacking.
Schalke come into this battle against Dortmund, knowing that a victory can propel Schalke back into 4th spot in the table, which will snatch them a Champions League spot for next season, and that is definitely what Schalke is aiming for. They come into this game in a mixed bag of form of winning 3 and losing 2 out of their last 5 played. They however, rely a lot on their home form beating some top sides like Gladbach (2-1), Wolfsburg (3-0), Hertha (2-1) and Mainz (2-1) in this campaign so far. Huntelaar, Di Santo and Meyer has been their go to offensive weapons, but inconsistency is what has got Schalke to hamper this campaign. Defensively, they have struggled conceding goals in 5 straight games, and things don’t look that optimistic when Dortmund come to town.
Dortmund had a wake up call in mid-week when they went 1-0 down to the tactics of their former manager Jurgen Klopp, and I am sure Schalke would have paid attention to ensure to attack Dortmund especially on the counter attack, where Dortmund are vulnerable due to their high pressing tactics. Dortmund over-rely on the likes of Mkhitariyan, Reus and Aubamayeng to deliver the results week in and week out. However, the heavy work load in mid-week would have probably exhausted them coming into this high pressure encounter. Defensively, Dortmund have shown vulnerabilities conceding in 4 out of their last 5 games. Bender, Hummels, Sokratis and Ginter have been filling the role in mid-field, which does not set the world on fire when you face them as an offensive unit.
This game is one of the high profiled ones still left in Germany to go before the end of the season, and I expect both teams to score with over 2.5 goals, as both of them look for victory to solidify their stake for the Champions League spot for next season.
