UEFA Champions League
Real Madrid v Roma – Over 2.5 Goals & BTTS @ 1.83 (Bet365) – 3 points
Real Madrid head into the 2nd leg of the Champions League Tie against Roma as the overwhelming favourites to qualify especially since they have a 2-0 advantage from the first leg. Madrid took the advantage thanks to Jese and Ronaldo and will now look to close off the game in front of their home fans. Madrid will be happy to welcome back Gareth Bale to the fold as Zidane will likely start with a 4-3-3 formation with James, Bale and Ronaldo up front in this encounter. Zidane’s team has been in great scoring form winning 7-1 at home against Celta Vigo on the weekend. They have scored 22 goals in their last 5 games at home and will look to the home crowd support to help them continue in their rich vain of form. Real Madrid’s biggest concern has to be defensively where they have conceded goals in 4 straight games since the Roma game, and 8 out of their last 10 overall. Zidane’s philosophy of focussing more on scoring rather than defending, will potentially hurt them against a quick paced Roma team.
Roma are in scintillating form heading into this encounter scoring 12 goals while conceding only 2 beating Palermo, Empoli and more importantly was a tough encounter against rivals Fiorentina. Roma have set up the team well with Dzeko, Salah and el Sharaawy up front with Perotti in the no.10 role, who have been in great scoring form heading into this encounter. All of them have scored 2 goals at least in those 3 games heading into this game and also provided strong attacking threat against Madrid at home, but were unable to put in past them at home. With Roma liking to play a lot on the counter attack, I expect them to get the back of the net in this game. Roma’s defence has still been a bit shaky against the good teams as was also seen in their first leg against Madrid, and one can expect them to concede a goal especially in front of the fans at the Bernabeau.
This is expected to be an exciting encounter, and I cannot see anything other than goals when these 2 offensive teams meet, but I also expect both to score; so I am backing over 2.5 goals & BTTS in this encounter.
