Liverpool v Man City – Over 3.5 ET Corners @ 2.00 (Bet365) – 3 points
Liverpool and Manchester City have produced some exciting encounters in recent memory with a lot of their games seeing a lot of goals, with 3 goals being scored in 9 straight games in meeting between them and that gives pure entertainment for the neutral and especially in the Capital One Cup finals.
Liverpool will feel extremely confident coming into this encounter after not losing in their last 3 games with a 6-0 win over Aston Villa, while also qualifying for the Europa League with a 0-0 and 1-0 against Augsburg. However, their injured defence could be primed for a drubbing when they face Manchester City who are a much better attacking team than Augsburg or Aston Villa. Liverpool will have to rely on their offensive firepower in Benteke, Firmino and Coutinho in putting in a strong performance much like they did when they travelled to the Etihad and spanked the Citizens by a 4-1 scoreline. Liverpool will be weary of the fact that they have leaked goals consistently to Man City, and will really need to turn up the offensive juggernaut to win this game.
Manchester City have struggled in their last 2 meetings against Liverpool and were coming off a 3 game unbeaten run by beating Dynamo Kiev in mid-week by a 3-1 scoreline, which will give Pellegrini a huge sigh of relief that he is almost through to the quarter final of the UEFA Champions League. This is a chance not for him to sign off with at least one trophy in his pocket, and you can be damn sure he is setting his team up for a strong sight at the goal. Aguero, Toure, Silva, Sterling have all played fantastically well in mid-week and have helped the team score 3 goals away from home which will showcase the chances that they have created. Defensively is where City have struggled especially with Caballero going to start in goal since he has been leaking goals profusely in his encounters.
I expect this to be a truly entertaining encounter, and one everyone should be turned into with a lot of goals that can be expected in this one.
Both Arsenal and Manchester United come into this encounter after playing in Europe in mid-week which will have their players equally tired. Manchester United will feel a little confident coming into this win after putting 2 wins on the trot in the FA Cup and Europa League especially after they struggled the previous week with losses to Chelsea and Midtjylland. The biggest problem facing Manchester United is who is going to step up and rack up the goals with injuries to Martial, Rooney, Januzaj, Young, Fellaini, Valencia, Keane among all their offensive weapons. Defensively also Man Utd are struggling with injuries to potential starting back 5 in de Gea, Smalling, Jones, Darmian, Shaw and additionally Borthwick-Jackson. Manchester United felt the wrath of Arsenal at the Emirates with the Gunners running out to a quick 3-0 lead early on, and now with even more defensive injuries, you wonder what might be in-store for United tonight.
Arsenal have been in reasonable form and will be buoyed in the league especially after their dramatic late 2-1 win over Leicester City the last time they played in the league, but the 2 non-winners last week after a draw with Hull in the FA Cup and a 2-0 loss to Barcelona will leave them a bit skeptical heading into this game. Arsenal now face 4 games that could set them up for the season domestically with games against Man Utd, Swansea, Tottenham and Hull City over the next 2 weeks. Arsenal will look to play an extremely pacey team in this encounter where we should see Walcott, Sanchez, Ozil and Giroud up front to help them on that front with Ramsey and Coquelin sitting as the foil for the back 4 of Arsenal who have leaked only 2 goals in their last 5 games in the Premier League.
Arsenal despite being the away team will feel there is no better time to face Manchester United and help them narrow the gap with Leicester to 3 points, and I expect Arsenal to win, so I am backing them on the Draw No Bet Market as insurance.
PSG are in supreme confidence heading into this encounter against Lyon after brushing aside all their opponents with their recent trend seeing them win 8 out of their last 9 games by a minimum of a 2 goal margin along with a solid victory against Chelsea also showcasing itself during that run. They come into this game with a solid 8 day rest behind them which they will look to showcase a solid victory away from home against the arch-rivals Lyon. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and di Maria look good, and with Cavani potentially starting this game, I expect them to continue on their winning run to try and embarrass Lyon who are struggling in 6th spot.
Lyon on their part have turned around their fortunes over the last few games winning 3 out out of their last 5 league encounters and will feel that they can try to turn this form around. Lacazette has been their only solid offensive weapon with 10 goals this campaign. Lyon will feel hard done as they are missing key players due to injuries or suspensions such as Grenier, Jallet, Fakir, Rafael among the few. These teams have played 4 times already this season with PSG beating them handsomely by scoreline of 3-0, 2-1, 5-1 and 2-0; with the 5-1 loss the one coming in the league. Lyon defensively haven’t been as good as they have been in the past that has seen them lose 10 out of the 27 games played, which his among the bottom 10 in the league.
PSG have been dominating every team in this French Ligue 1 and I expect another dominating performance from Le Parisiens coming in this encounter with PSG in such great form.
