As Super Sunday arrives, many top leagues around the world have football action happening, so we aim to look at some good opportunities to make profit in them.
When Leicester City take on Arsenal, the encounter is expected to be a free flowing and exciting one. Leicester will come into this game with a lot of scoring form behind them scoring 2 goals in each of their last 3 games against Liverpool, Man City and Stoke City. The match against Man City last week was particularly impressive that showcases their ability to take on the big teams and put in big performances. Leicester in particular will be gunning for revenge after their 5-2 loss to Arsenal earlier on in the season, that was the only loss for Leicester in the first half of the season. Since then Mahrez and Vardy have continued on their merry way, and continued to deliver strong performances to help this team. Defensively Leicester have improved slightly, but will want to ensure that they score more goals in this one.
Arsenal have been a mixed bag, they were in 2nd/3rd spot for a large part of the season, and are look like they could be dragged back to their favourite 4th spot again in England. If Arsenal want to make serious title challenges, they need to deliver consistently not he offensive end, where they have been struggling for large parts of the season. Until their 2-0 win against Bournemouth, they hadn’t scored for the previous 3 game weeks; and will know that the only way to beat this Leicester team is to score goals. A win can bring Arsenal to within 2 points of Leicester which could give their title run in some good form coming into a busy fixture season of the FA Cup and Champions League encounters.
This game promises to be an exciting one, and let’s hope it does not disappoint for the fans. In 2015, the teams met twice in the league, and Arsenal came out as winners on both occasions, but it was notable to see there were goals in those encounters and that is exactly what I am expecting in this entertaining encounter.
England Premier League
Aston Villa v Liverpool – Liverpool Over 5.5 Team corners @ 1.80 (Bet365) – 2.5 points
Liverpool will take on Aston Villa in what theoretically should be a routine encounter for them, but performances of Liverpool have been a total mixed bag, with only the 5-4 win against Norwich being their only victory in the past 6 league encounters. Their team has been fairly inconsistent in putting a good team on the pitch while they have failed to deliver goals consistently offensively despite signing Origi, Benteke, Sturridge among their forwards. Liverpool will look to deploy Firming who put in a solid display in mid-week up front as a false 9 and should be supported by Lallana and Coutinho on the wings as they aim to put away this struggling Villa side. Liverpool will rely a lot on their wings as well as full backs in Clyne and Moreno to bomb forward, which results in them being among the highest teams in terms of team corner count in the league. Liverpool average around 7.3 corners per game with their last few games stats reading as follows:
Sunderland – 7 corners
Leicester – 12 corners
Norwich – 3 corners
Man Utd – 5 corners
Arsenal – 9 corners
West Ham – 9 corners
Leicester – 6 corners
Aston Villa on the other hand need to defend their goal and ensure that they do not concede anything. With Firmino deployed as a false 9; I expect many shots to be taken from outside the box, that could have Guzan diving around to push balls away. Aston Villa know they will be under pressure from Liverpool who will consider this a must win game to push them back to 8th spot in the league in the top half of the table. Aston Villa also like conceding a lot of corners to their opponents with an average of 5.3 corners per game conceded.
I think Liverpool should easily cross the 5.5 team corners mark in this game.
Manchester City host Tottenham in this critical encounter that could determine who takes the momentum going into the run up of games through March, April, May. Manchester City were upset by Leicester City last week on their home floor by a score of 1-3; and now need to turn things around with a solid performance against Tottenham. Aguero, Toure, Silva and Sterling will be instrumental on the offensive unit for Manchester City as they aim to play proper counter attacking football top lead to goals for them. Defensively, Man City will be looking to welcome back Kompany into their start lineup as they aim to try and keep a clean sheet. City were embarrassed by a score of 4-1 in the encounter earlier in the season against Tottenham, and will want to write the wrongs this time around.
Tottenham come into this game, full of confidence and on an unbeaten 6 match run in all competitions. Tottenham know that victory today and then also in 2 weeks from now when Man City are playing in the League Cup Final, can separate Tottenham by 7 points from Man City to give them some breathing room. Tottenham have been winning due to their improvement on the goal scoring front, netting 17 goals in their last 6 encounters and will be aiming to replicate those performances against a Man City side hounding them on their tail. Spurs will also be wary of the fact that they have been battered 4-1 and 6-0 on their last 2 visits to the Eithad; and will need to go attacking to score first to put pressure on Manchester City.
I expect this to be a fiesty and exciting encounter with goals being flooded across the park against 2 pretty unsure defences.
Sevilla come into this game against Las Palmas on the back of some great goal scoring form where they have found the back of the net scoring 2 goals in 9 out of their last 11 matches, not losing any of the games in that run up. They have depended a lot on Gameiro, Banega, Iborra, Llorente to help chip in with the goals for them. The total unison brought about by Unai Emery is helping them play well and progress as they aim to secure another Europa League spot again.
Las Palmas have been fairly poor winning none of their last 11 games away from home, and drawing just 3 of them. They have conceded 25 goals during that duration and this does not bode well for this team who is sitting in the relegation zone. They have won only 1 game in their last 6 games, and relegation is looking a certainty unless they can turn around positive results. The fact that they have only scored 23 goals in what is otherwise a high scoring La Liga, has put them in trouble. Things will get tough when they travel to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan tonight as Sevilla have kept 7 clean sheets in their last 11 encounters
I full expect Sevilla to continue their dominant goal scoring efforts to secure a good victory by a 2-0 scoreline to ensure they secure their Europa League spot.
