Juventus come into the game against Chievo on a tearing run winning 10 straight games in all competitions against some of the good teams in Italy including Fiorentina, Torino, Lazio, Roma and Inter. After a dreadful start, they have finally integrated all their players into their squad and that has seen them come to within 2 points of leaders Napoli. New signing Dybala has made an instant impact with 12 goals along with Manduzkic (6 goals) and Pogba (4 goals) to help them on the offensive end. Defensively in those 10 games, Juventus have just conceded 4 goals in that duration, showcasing the solidity they have at the back.
Chievo were unlucky last time around as they took a 1-0 lead against Lazio, got a man sent off, and then lost 4-1 by conceding 4 goals in the last 30 minutes. Chievo are struggling for form with just 1 win in their last 5 games, that too came against Bologna, who are in mid-table around them. Paloschi has helped them in the scoring with with 8 goals. Other than him there is no one who has scored more than 4 to help propel them to the top half of the table.
Juventus will look to continue building their lead, and victory in this game will put added pressure on Lazio who will kick off only after they play.
PSG have been on a wild tear, and its no surprise they hold a 21 point lead at the summit of the Ligue 1. At this rate; they should be able to seal of the league by game week 30 at best. They have now won 13 games in a row in all competitions while not losing in their last 18 straight games. A lot of that effort has to be taken for the collective team efforts as well as their 2 major impact players in Angel di Maria and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Zlatan has nabbed 17 goals, while di Maria with 8 and Cavani has also chipped in with 10 goals to showcase one of the most potent offences in the Ligue 1 as they have scored 56 goals in 22 games.
St. Etienne are sitting in 6th spot in the Europa League places, but have won just 2 of their last 5 games in the Ligue 1.The only positive for them is that both those results came at home. When they have been on the road they have really struggled, when they meet quality opposition like Monaco, PSG or Marseille they have struggled. These 2 teams met in October with PSG routing to a 4-1 victory and that has been due to St. Etienne’s scoring troubles where they have only netted 25 goals in 22 games.
PSG will be high on confidence, and will want to grab as many points as they can before the Champions League campaign starts, as they will have the ability to rest players then. I am backing PSG to win his win while covering the Asian Handicap.
Udinese have been struggling this season, just 5 points above the relegation zone, but have still managed to find the back of the net. They have netted in 9 out of their last 12 games and 5 out of 6, with the only missed chances coming against better teams like Juventus, Fiorentina and Inter. They are in a situation where they are struggling for results and need to use their home advantage tonight against Lazio in order to deliver goals and hopefully some points.
Lazio have good undefeated in their last 6 games straight, but have not been without their struggles particularly on the defensive end. They came from a goal behind to beat Chievo last week but have conceded goals regularly against Bologna, Fiorentina, Inter, Sampdoria, Udinese, Empoli, Palermo, Roma, Milan, Atalanta – the list can go on. In fact both teams to score would have landed in 6 out of their last 7 games.
I am backing both teams to score in what should be a keenly contested game with both teams needing results to stay in the hunt for their respective targets.
