Soccer Saturday is where most of us get a football fix for the week, the most football games in the world are played on this day, so plenty of chances to make some money.
ENGLAND FA CUP
Man City to beat Aston Villa @ 1.72 (888Sport) – 3 points
Sergio Aguero Anytime Scorer @ 2.02 (888Sport) – 1.5 points
Manchester City travel to the midlands fresh of an exciting 3-1 victory, and 4-3 aggregate win against Everton in the mid-week to move into the final of the Capital One Cup; and will feel confidence running through their veins as now they aim to take on Aston Villa. City will come into this game seeing David Silva, Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure in great form as City have now been undefeated in their last 5 games. They have scored 7 goals in their last 3 games with Aguero scoring 5 goals in this duration. City will still have to contend with numerous injuries as de Bruyne is now ruled out for 10 weeks, while Kompany, Mangala, Kolarov and Bony are still a few weeks away from getting back into the lineup. This means you will likely see Sergio Aguero starting up front with Navas taken de Bruyne’s spot on the right wing.
Aston Villa have been struggling but have managed to lose just 1 game, while drawing or winning another 5 during the month of January. Defensively is where they have improved, but the offence is still struggling to find any firepower in order to deliver goals. Aston Villa today are 10 points behind safety in the Premier League and with fixtures floating around in mid-week, we can expect them to rotate the squad in order to focus on important games coming against West Ham and Norwich City over the next week. While Agbonlahor looks to be coming back from injury, he still has a lot of absences with the likes of Amavi, Hutton, Sanchez, Traore all definitely missing due to injury.
I expect Man City to continue to progress towards another domestic cup final and that can be done with a solid victory against Aston Villa.
Tottenham are the form side coming out of the Premier League and have lost just 3 times in the league all season. Pochettino has really rallied his troops really well that has seen them extremely motivated and delivering solid results in the league. They have also progressed to the knockout stages in the Europa League when they have rotated their squad around, so they should be able to play well with a rotated squad this afternoon. Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen should all look to come off the bench as Pochettino will probably give a run out to Son, Chadli, Lamela, Bentaleb, Dembele & Carroll to lead the forward/midfield line as they will aim to prove themselves against a team that is 2 divisions below them and sitting last spot in League One.
Colchester as I mentioned are in 24th sport in League One, and they can very well do with a distraction from Tottenham in the FA Cup as they are 7 points from safety. Colchester’s biggest problem has been their poor defence as they have conceded 65 goals in 28 games with a goal difference of -29. They will just be happy to get Tottenham to come to them, so that they can get a full house and a decent pay day in this encounter.
Tottenham shouldn’t have any problems dismissing Colchester early, and will be hoping not to get Kane especially off the bench so that he can be well rested for their mid-week travel to Norwich City and I am backing them to cover the Asian Handicap line.
