The Premier League is back after a layoff of 10 days and we look forward to this mid-week round of fixtures tonight
Crystal Palace come into this game with some good form losing just 1 game in their last 9 in all competitions, with their only bad mark coming in a poor game away from home against Chelsea on 3rd January. Since then Palace have come out with a solid 2-1 victory over Southampton in the FA Cup; and will be looking forward to taking that form against a struggling Villa outfit tonight. Palace have couple of players who are in good scoring form namely Zaha, Bolasie, Cabaye while Wickham, Campbell, Chamakh have been showing signs of scoring as the forwards up front. Palace have kept it tight generally at the back with 3 clean sheets in their last 6 games in the league; and will be looking to keep up that defence against a struggling Villa side.
Aston Villa are looking set for relegation looking at their performances week in and week out. They took the lead against Wycombe in the FA Cup, and then finally had a settle for a draw and an extra replay fixture which they did not need considering the struggles that they are having in the league. Villa have failed to win in their last 17 games, with their last win coming in the Capital One Cup against Birmingham way back in September. Villa’s problems have been at the defensive end that has helped them get some confidence to push on for victory conceding in 10 straight games, and 16 in their last 17 games. Up front they have chopped and changed with many players including Agbonlahor, Sinclair, Gestede, Traore and Ayew; but none of them have delivered consistently to help the team with a good run of goals.
Palace look good to take a victory against a struggling Villa side, but I will back them on the Asian Line for a bit of insurance incase of a draw.
