The NBA season is back tonight, and we go straight in early on this time with a pick in order to try and take advantage of some poor lines early on.
OKC Thunder Over 108 pts v POR Blazers @ 1.83 (Bet365) – 2.5 points
The Oklahoma City Thunder are riding a good run of form in recent weeks scoring 102 points per game. The Thunder rely a lot on Westbrook and Durant to add almost 55 points a night between them to keep their winning going by outscoring opponents on most nights. They currently boast a great home record going 11-3 in those games.
The Thunder are averaging 108 points per game so far this season, and especially when they take on poorer defensive teams like the Blazers tonight; they will feel the opportunity to rack up the points against them. Blazers are letting their opponents let in 102 points per game on the road and struggle to score themselves with just 99 points.
The Thunder have found their shooting boots recently scoring 47% from the field in December, for the 5th best in the NBA; while knocking down the three-ball at 38% for 6th best in the NBA. The Thunder bench with the likes of Waiters, Kanter, Morrow, adams manage to score around 35 points per game; which is pretty good and among the top 10 in the NBA.
I am backing the Thunder to score high around 108 points while they enjoy the support in front of their home fans.
GSW v PHX – Curry Over 31.5 points @ 1.85 (888Sport) – 2.5 points
Stephen Curry will be looking to put in a performance in front of his home fans after loss last time around against the Milwaukee Bucks; and nothing better than home comforts to show people why you are going to remain the MVP for this year.
Steph is scoring at a phenomenal rate at 34.5 points per game especially since Barnes has gone down to injury; and he is compensating the extra scoring. Steph knocks down an average of 15 points from downtown while getting around 5 points from the charity stripe; but increased that to 7 in the recent few games. As I said since Barnes has gone to Currry is shouldering the load; and that can be seen from the 3 extra shots per game he is taking per game.
Curry tonight will be taking on the Phoenix Suns who are among the poorer defensive teams in the league conceding around 105 points per game for the bottom 5 in the NBA. Curry enjoyed playing the Suns early on in the season, and netted 41 points against them; and I don’t think it will be any surprise to see Curry back to that sharp-shooting form in this one to knock down 32 points.
LAC v MIL – C Paul Over 8.5 assists @ 1.72 (888Sport) – 2 points
The chief tormentor of the Milwaukee Bucks around a week ago scoring 18 points and grabbing 18 assists in the bargain leading his team to a 14 points victory.
Chris Paul will already know that the Bucks are struggling after losing last night especially after all the rumored partying before the Lakers game. He would have seen their defence has a lot of holes that can be plugged in and will want to be throwing in the alley-oops to Jordan; playing the pick-and-roll with Griffin; and setting up Redick for some 3-balls. Paul has been the leading assists maker for several seasons in the NBA; if not always in the top 3.
In 3 out of his last 4 games, he has focussed on ball distribution as he can read the game as well as anyone else. Paul has been averaging around 9 assists per game, but in the last 4 he has taken that up to 12 per game. Paul will know that it is his responsibility as team captain to make sure his team mates are involved especially since his scoring is down by 2 points as compared to his career average these days.
I expect Paul to at least get his season average of 9 assists; and anything more will be a treat for the fans to watch.
