The NBA season is back tonight, and we go straight in early on this time with a pick in order to try and take advantage of some poor lines early on.
SA Spurs -2.5 to beat ATL Hawks @ 1.83 (Bet365) – 3 points
San Antonio Spurs have been the 19-5 record for the 2nd best in the NBA. And the primary reason is the way that they have continued to construct their team by adding Aldridge who will be taking over the Duncan reigns when he retires. Popovich always managed to keep a good team on the floor whose primary focus is defence. With a starting 5 of Aldridge-Duncan-Leonard-Green-Parker they have a mix of defence as well as offence to keep the team scoring. San Antonio are keeping opponents down to less than 89 points on average for the campaign. San Antonio also keeps the team rotated and fresh so Parker was given a rest against the Lakers last night while none of the players played more than 27 minutes last night.
The Hawks have been smashed by 13 points against the Thunder last time around. The biggest problem for the Hawks is that they rely a lot on their starters who play over 34 minutes per game; and the bench has been unreliable to deliver a simple impact. Kyle Korver has been struggling as compared to last year; while Horford and Millsapp have been struggling to deliver consistent numbers. The bench players including Splitter, Bazemore, Schroeder and Muscala have been extremely poor on the defensive end.
This game looks to be a good one but I predict the Spurs defence will be able to hold on and beat this 3 point margin to victory.
