The NBA season is back tonight, and we go straight in early on this time with a pick in order to try and take advantage of some poor lines early on.
CLE Cavaliers -2.5 to beat TOR Raptors @ 1.90 (888Sport) – 2.5 points
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been on a run with a 11-3 record going on a run of 3 straight wings against good teams in Atlanta, Orlando and Milwaukee in that stretch. LeBron James has been showing us his full array of skills dishing out assists while also crashing the boards in the attempt to help his side win. Kevin Love has also stepped up his game, going on a scoring 25 points per game while shooting at least 3 three-pointers per game. The 2 of them have been running the team in the recent absence of Mozgov and Williams. James and Love along with the supporting cast of JR Smith, Thompson, Jefferson, Dellevadova, Varejao have helped the team win each of those games by a 12 point margin at minimum.
The Toronto Raptors have been playing well until recently been on a 5-5 run. The team however managed to win their last game against a defenceless Clippers team who have been really poor. The Raptors lost Valanciunas along with some of his scoring and his defensive ability, and have had Biyombo step in to crash the class for them. The Raptors have relied a lot on from inside the 3-point territory as they are shooting at 34% and making only 22 points of 3-pointers for the bottom 7 teams in the NBA. The Raptors rely a lot on their back court of Carroll, DeRozan and Lowry to help them; and if they would be shut down, that will definitely impact their scoring.
Cleveland has had a good record against the Raptors beating them in 3 out of the 4 games played last year, including both in Canada, and I expect Cleveland to put in a similar performance tonight.
PHX Suns over 107 points v NO Pelicans @ 1.85 (888Sport) – 2.5 points
The Phoenix Suns will be hosting the New Orleans Pelicans aiming to continue their fast paced offence against a NO Pelicans team who have completely forgot how to play defence. The Suns played against the Pelicans 3 days ago and manage to unfortunately lose against the Pelicans but still scored a lot of buckets landing up with 116 points against the Pelicans in that encounter.
Brandon Knight and Eric Bledsoe are one of the top backcourts in the NBA; and its truly entertaining to watch the 2 of them get to work. They are averaging 46 points per game between them and thats is their biggest 2 contributors to their point scoring effort. They have great shooters to space the floor including Morris, TJ Warren, PJ Tucker, Goodwin, Teletovic, Booker and Price. In the game against the Pelicans they got plenty of space taking 36 3-point shots before netting 17 of those on 47% shooting.
The Pelicans despite having Anthony Davis as the rim protector, have poor perimeter defenders and are letting in 109 points per game. They let their opponents score for 50% from the field, the 2nd worst in the NBA and give away almost 30 points from downtown which is the 2nd worst in the NBA. The Suns have averaged 105 points per game who are the 3rd highest in the NBA and a lot of that has to come from their proficient 3-point shooting where they are averaging 39% form downtown for 3rd best in the NBA.
The Suns should have a lot of fun at home, and I expect them to continue their heavy scoring form and go over the 107 points line tonight.
