The NBA season is back tonight, and we go straight in early on this time with a pick in order to try and take advantage of some poor lines early on.
CLE v ORL – L James Over 6.5 Assists @ 1.72 (888Sport) – 2 points
LeBron James is truly the ultimate player and everyone will tell you the same thing about him no matter where you are from or which Basketball league you follow. The biggest reason for that is how he gets his team mates involved in game play, whether motivating them, putting screens for him, rebounding and clearing it for them on the fast break or dishing out assists to them.
James has been averaging around 6 assists per game so far this campaign, which is a bit under his career average of 7 assists per game, because he has to get Irving, Williams and Love also creating chances for him to score a lot of points with his scoring average slowly improving this season. James in particular at this time has to do a lot of the heavy hitting due to various injuries. With Williams and Mozgov going to miss around 1-2 weeks due to injuries and Irving and Shumpert not expected to be back for January; it will be up to James to create some more additional opportunities to help Dellavadova.
We witnessed some of James’ passing skills last time around against Atlanta Hawks where he created 8 chances for his team mates, a lot of them going to Kevin Love for 3’s from downtown. James will be looking forward to creating more chances to build confidence in his team mates also ahead of a long season, by giving up some shot opportunities for them to create.
I expect James to get over 6.5 assists in this game, and help his team to another victory.
MIN v PHI – Wiggins over 22 and MIN win @ 2.25 (WilliamHill) – 1.5 points
One of 2 records will be broken in this game, either Minnesota finally gets a win at home after going 0-5 or Philadelphia breaks their duck after going 0-14.
The Wolves have showed some spirited performances throughout the season, especially with Wiggins and Towns working on establishing a rapport. They have Garnett and Prince as the veteran leadership and tricky Ricky Rubio to provide some slick passes and has also started developing his scoring opportunity. Wolves have already beaten some good teams in Miami, Atlanta, Chicago along with poor teams like Denver and LA Lakers. They will feel with the 76ers coming to town, this is a true opportunity to break this run of poor form at home. Wiggins has been instrumental as the team’s top scorer averaging 21.5 points per game. He his averaging 24 points per game over his last 5 games largely due to his shooting inside the 3-point line as well as getting a lot to the charity stripe. Wiggins also grabs around 2 rebounds per game on the offensive end, giving up opportunities to score additional points.
The 76ers put up a great fight in their last game against Miami Heat; leading by 17 points at one point, before failing to lose by 5 in the final stretches. Okafor continued his progress netting 16 points but bench guards Covington, Canaan, scored 43 points among them primarily coming with 27 points form down town. That was definitely something of a remarkable day if you ask me, and I can’t see that being repeated today. The rest of the team has been pretty below average, and with the exception of Noel, Okafor, Grant and Canaan, most of them probably wouldn’t make another roster in the NBA.
I expect Wiggins to continue his good form and lead his team to victory.
Player Treble @ 6.33 (888Sport) – 0.5 points
Kevin Love over 19.5 points
Andrew Wiggins Over 21.5 points
Kawhi Leonard Over 20.5 points
