The NBA season is back tonight, and we go straight in early on this time with a pick in order to try and take advantage of some poor lines early on.

NBA Basketball
DOUBLE @ 2.00 (Bet365) – 2.5 points
SA Spurs -1.5 to beat NO Pelicans
TOR Raptors -3.0 to beat LA Lakers

PHX Suns Over 103.5 points v DEN Nuggets @ 1.85 (888Sport) – 2.5 points

The Phoenix Suns will be heading to the Denver Nuggets to continue their fast paced offence against a Denver Nuggets team who have completely forgot how to play defence. The Nuggets are giving up 103 points per game, but as seen against fast paced and good shooting teams like Houston, Portland, Golden State, OKC; they have let in over the mark of 105 points in each of those game.

The Suns love their run and gun offence that was first started by D’Antoni in Phoenix, and then continued by Gentry and now by Hornacek. They have averaged 105 points per game who are the 4th highest in the NBA and a lot of that has to come from their proficient 3-point shooting where they are averaging 38% form downtown for 5th best in the NBA. They net about 10 three’s per game which is 3rd in the NBA. They have set up the offence to have Chandler in the middle with Morris as a stretch four.

Brandon Knight and Eric Bledsoe are one of the top backcourts in the NBA; and its truly entertaining to watch the 2 of them get to work. They are averaging 44 points per game between them and thats is their biggest 2 contributors to their point scoring effort. They have great shooters to space the floor including Morris, TJ Warren, PJ Tucker, Goodwin, Teletovic, Booker and Price.

The Suns love taking on the Nuggets whom they averaged above 108 points in their last 4 meetings, 3 from last season and 1 from this season (105 points). I expect the Suns to continue their scoring run and net another 104 points in this game against Denver.

SA Spurs -5.5 to beat NO Pelicans @ 1.67 (888Sport) – 3 points

The San Antonio Spurs are extremely fit and healthy and are looking build on their run of 6 straight victories going back to 7th of November. The team initially struggled to get Aldridge and some of their older players in Duncan and Ginobili back into rhythm, but now after starting off the season 9-2; you can definitely say things are going smoothly well.

The Spurs have already shown that teams that are not of their calibre, they can easily push aside and secure the victories. They have already taken care of teams like Portland (twice), Boston, Sacramento, Brooklyn, Denver, Charlotte etc. The Pelicans also fall into the same category especially since they have struggled a lot with injuries to Davis, Holiday, Evans, Asik, Perkins, Pondexter, Cole. That has resulted them in struggling to put bodies on the floor and losing 6 straight games beating Dallas in between, before losing another 5 games to set their record at 1-11.

Alvin Gentry has tried to establish a run and gun mentality like he used to at Phoenix, but this simply cannot work with the lineup so banged up and struggling to play on the pace today. The Spurs will enjoy this match up, as they will look to slow the game down and play at their own pace to admonish another loss to the struggling Pelicans. The Spurs have the experience, a good starting lineup and some great back up players to step in for any injuries or poor form and thats why I believe they will cover the spread and win the game.
