The NBA season is back tonight, and we go straight in early on this time with a pick in order to try and take advantage of some poor lines early on.
PHX Over 108.5 points v LA Lakers @ 1.91 (Bet365) – 3 points
The Phoenix Suns will be will rested especially after resting most of their starters in their last game against the Denver Nuggets, as the team jumped to a 14 point lead in the 1st quarter, and never looked back since then.
Tonight the Suns take a look at the Lakers on their home floor, who fought extremely hard last night to beat the Detroit Pistons; and will be quite banged up tonight. Kobe Bryant is definitely going to sit out while Roy Hibbert is a doubt after taking a knock to his nose last night. While their scoring has been quite spread across with Bryant, Clarkson and Young doing the bulk of the scoring; the rest of the players have yet to make their contributions. Lakers have done their best to keep their opponents less than 101 points per game, which they have done so in their last 6 games, winning 2 while losing 4.
The Suns love their run and gun offence that was first started by D’Antoni in Phoenix, and then continued by Gentry and now by Hornacek. They have averaged 104 points per game who are the 4th highest in the NBA and a lot of that has to come from their proficient 3-point shooting where they are averaging 38% form downtown for 3rd best in the NBA. They net about 10 three’s per game which is 4th also in the NBA. They have set up the offence to have Chandler in the middle with Morris as a stretch four; which will probably draw out Randle for the Lakers to create the lane free for players like Bledsoe and Knight who like to score a lot of points in the middle of the paint.
The Suns love playing the Lakers as they have scored not less than 112 points in 7 out of their lat 8 meetings over the past 2 seasons. The Lakers can’t seem to be handling the pace in my opinion, and I am backing the Suns to get over 108 points in this game.
PHX v LAL – T Chandler Over 9.5 rebounds @ 1.85 (888Sport) – 2.5 points
As the Phoenix Suns look to take on the LA Lakers, I am looking a potentially good prop player performance and that is Tyson Chandler taking over 9.5 rebounds.
Chandler has been averaging around 9 rebounds per game so far this campaign but has managed to get more when he takes on teams that are generally poor shooters of the basketball. Teams like Detroit, Sacramento and earlier in the season Portland who had been shooting poorly, had been victims to Chandlers glass crashing ability where he got 11 boards at least in each of those games. In the last 3 games, Chandlers minutes have slowed down a bit because not much of the game was surrounding him, since it was an opportunity for their guards to do bulk of the scoring against OKC, LAC and DEN.
Chandler by default if he players more than 28 minutes a game, is in the reckoning to net 9 boards, as he played less than 25 minutes in each of the last 3 and got 8 boards. Tonight Chandler takes on another poor team in the Lakers who are dead last in FG percentage averaging 41% and in the bottom 8 in 3-point FG percentage going for 31%. All these misses means there are plenty of opportunities for the Suns to pick up rebounds on their opponents. Because of those misses the Lakers let their opponents get 49 rebounds per game against them; which is 29th in the NBA.
Roy Hibbert is a major doubt for this game, while Chandler’s front court partner Morris is also a doubt for this game, which leaves it to Chandler to clean the glass, and he should easily get 10 boards in this game.
