Back to SUPER SUNDAY for all our entertainment. One can expect this to be a truly great outing with some exciting encounters, which we look to make a profit out of.
Napoli’s form in Serie A is one that would make even the best fans jealous of them as they have now won 7 straight games in all competitions and the only game that they have lost all campaign is their opening encounter in Serie A which was a 2-1 loss to Sassuolo.
Napoli’s success has been on the offensive end which has seen them score 21 goals in 10 games which are the 2nd highest in the Serie A. That form has also translated in the Europa League where they have scored 11 goals in their 3 games in that competition as well.
With an offensive engine led by Higuain, Insigne, Hamsik and Callejon; they certainly have the firepower to trouble any team in Serie A or even in the Europa League which they are competing in. Higuain is already the leading scorer in the league with 8 goals while Insigne has hit 6 goals himself.
In the 13 games that they have played this campaign; they have failed to net 2 goals only three times all season. Their team is always set up to go on the offensive and even if they struggle up front, they can still call upon Mertens and Gabbiadini of the bench.
I am back Napoli to continue their scoring trend and net 2 goals in this encounter against a Chievo defence that has leaked 2 goals in each of their last 3 games.
Southampton come into this encounter with tremendous form behind them being undefeated in their last 6 games in all competitions. The team originally started out this season poorly with Koeman not on the bench and Pelle struggling to gain form, which have since been rectified. Pelle has since led the team in scoring with 5 goals out of then 16 they have netted so far and his goals have been vital for them getting the groove back on. He has also been ably supported by Mane with 3 goals, Tadic and left bank van Dijk with 2 goals a piece. Saints will be looking forward to home comforts in this game taking on a Bournemouth side who are poor away from home and have won only 1 encounter away from home.
Bournemouth are leakiest defence in the league, conceding 22 goals in 10 games and that has been their biggest problem especially with Arthur Boruc gifting away some easy goals to opponents with some bad howlers. To their credit, Bournemouth are on a good scoring run, netting in 8 straight Premier League games; so you can assume they have a couple of goals up their sleeve for this encounter. Bournemouth will be keen to play loose and free but at the same time also grab points that could be critical for their survival.
Koeman knows that victory in this encounter will see his team move up to 7th ahead of Liverpool; which is where he would imagine the team should be for most of the campaign. I expect Southampton to put on a good show in front of their home fans against the leaky defence and either Pelle or Mane to get their scoring boots on to net Southampton to victory tonight.
