The NBA season is back tonight, and we go straight in early on this time with a pick in order to try and take advantage of some poor lines early on.
GS Warriors -3.5 to beat NO Pelicans @ 1.76 (Bet365) – 4 points
Steph Curry Over 26 points @ 1.85 (888Sport) – 2.5 points
The Golden State Warriors crack into this game against New Orleans Pelican after already beating them 16 points on Ring night. They will be looking forward to replicating that success tonight and will be especially buoyant after a solid performance last night against the Houston Rockets. The Warriors led by Stephen Curry has already netted 40 points and 25 points in the 2 nights so far, and he will look to continue that success against a poor matchup tonight against Ish Smith at the point. Festus Ezili stepped into replace Bogut in the starting lineup and a solid 9 points and 7 rebounds last night. Klay Thompson, Andre Iguadola and Danny Green still need to get into gear in order to push in for the team to be set for another Champions season.
The Pelicans are struggling especially in the new fast paced offensive with new coach Alvin Gentry and as well as a lot of injuries that they face today. They have lost their first 2 games for 16 points and 18 points so far. Anthony Davis has struggled shooting so far and needs to pick up his offence if the Pelicans are to step up for victory. Other than him Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon have chipped in with the scoring, but the rest of the Pelicans lineup is struggling without Holiday playing his usual visit, Tyreke Evans & Omer Asik recovering from injuries.
This looks like another routine victory for the the GS Warriors tonight and I won’t be hesitating to back them tonight.
POR Trailblazers – Lillard Over 24.5 points @ 1.90 (888Sport) – 2.5 points
Damian Lillard is now the sole leader of the Portland Trailblazers after having only 3 years experience in the NBA. The Blazers roster has been gutted and 4 out of the top 5 (Aldridge, Lopez, Batum and Matthews) have been shipped out of Portland as the team will be in rebuilding mode to get a more competitive team to put around Lillard to improve in years to come.
With all that said, its upto to Lillard to put on a show for their fans every night now more than ever in order to ensure they keep faith with the team. Lillard has started of the season with 21 and 24 points in the 2 games so far. He netted 24 point last time around against Phoenix away from home and also was ineffective shooting 7 for 20 from the field. He will definitely want to improve on that performance tonight when they entertain the Phoenix team they lost to last night. He normally averages 26.3 points per game against the Suns, and will feel that in front of his home fans, he should be able to get back to that scoring form.
Lillard needs to make more penetration inside to help him get a few more easier buckets, while also continuing to net and improve on the 2 three-pointers he shoots per game over his career. The Suns definitely look on the opportunity to beat the Blazers to secure the win for the home-home games, and the pressure will be on Lillard to solid performance to tray and lead his team to victory and I expect him to net the 25 points tonight.
