We are finally back to club football on the weekend with SUPER SUNDAY for all our entertainment. One can expect this to be a truly great outing with some exciting encounters, which we look to make a profit out of.
Owing to their form of scoring goals and lots of them so far. They have netted 16 goals in 7 games in Serie A so far, and 23 goals in 9 games for the season including the Europa League shows you what they are capable of in front of the net. Last match day, they really showed an exciting prospect that they can be when they smashed Milan at the San Siro by a score of 4-0; and their top scorer Gonazalo Higuain wasn’t even on the scoresheet. The previous weekend they put in a top performance by beating Juventus by a score of 2-1; and thats not to forget that they were in control for most of the game.
Up front Napoli boast a host of talent with the likes of Insigne, Mertens and Higuain up front along with a supporting cast including Hamsik, Callejon and Allan to give them additional firepower; with runs being made into the box by them to score or even create chances. Higuain and Insigne have scored 10 out of the 16 goals netted by them in the league so far. 15 out of the last 16 Serie A games involving Napoli have seen over 2.5 goals in their games, with the exception being one 0-0 draw played away to Carpi. Napoli have struggled defensively leaking goals in almost every game to concede 7 goals in 7 games played this campaign.
Fiorentina have gone out to be the early runaway leaders of the Serie A taking 18 points out of a maximum of 21; just losing the solitary game to Torino by a score of 3-1 on the 2nd weekend of fixtures. Fiorentina like Napoli have been playing some attractive attacking football and have scored 14 goals in 7 games in the Serie A so far. Their last 2 fixtures especially have seen them run riot beating Inter by a score of 4-1 and Atalanta by a score of 3-0.
Fiorentina’s leading goalscorer has been Kalinić with 4 goals and Iličić with 3 goals while Babacar, Alonso and Błaszczykowski have also chipped in with goals to showcase what a dangerous team they can be especially on the counter attack. Their offence has seen them score in 14 straight Serie A games dating back to last season and a return of Rossi also helps them in attack. Fiorentina have had discipline in defence which has led them towards the top of the table as they have only conceded 1 goal to Inter since their loss by 3-1 to Torino; and that has set their standard up.
This promises to be an exciting encounter between 2 counter attacking teams who are split by 6 points and are both in search of victory to put their cases forward to get a CHAMPIONS LEAGUE spot this season. Both teams have lost just 1 game this season, and both will know that each team will be going all out for victory in this encounter and will play their best outfits.
This is the game I am looking forward to watch this weekend, and my pick is for over 2.5 goals in this game.
Newcastle United are extremely pumped up after their recent losses, including the 6-1 mauling my Manchester City and need a turnaround tonight in front of their home fans at St. James’ Park.
Newcastle will be looking forward to their counter-attacking offence that has improved in recent weeks, seeing them scoring in their last 3 straight games as they were scoreless in the previous 4 games. Wjnaldum, Perez and Mitrovic have been largely instrumental in turning their offence flowing on counter attack as well as on set pieces to keep this team completely involved. Newcastle will know that pressure will be on manager McClaren unless he comes up with the points tonight but that might be difficult considering he has lost starting goalkeeper Tim Krul, which could open up their defence to leaking goals. With him in the lineup, they already leaked 12 goals in their last 4 games; and it won’t be surprising if this defence does not hold up tonight.
Norwich City lost their last game out against Leicester City, but continued their run of scoring in 7 out of 8 Premier League games so far; and will be confident to grab a goal or two against a Newcastle defence who is consistently leaking for fun as I mentioned above. Norwich play a very expansive football looking for goals led by Hoolahan, Redmond and also through set pieces from defender Russell Martin. Defensively they have proven to be shaky especially away from home, leaking a goal in each of their last 5 away games played, including 4 in the Premier League.
Newcastle games have seen 23 goals in 8 games while Norwich games have seen 26 goals in 8 games; which is an average of 3 goals per game, and I am expecting more of the same tonight when these 2 teams match up on Super Sunday.
Atletico Madrid have faced a few set backs with a loss to Villareal and a draw against Real Madrid (in a game they dominated for large periods of) and will need to turn this game around when they travel to take on Moyes’ Sociedad tonight, who have equally been struggling as well.
Atletico Madrid have slipped to 5th spot in the table, and know that nothing less than a win will be important for them in order to keep up pace with Barcelona and Real Madrid. The Atletico Madrid offence has been a bit shakier this year compared to previous seasons since they lost Manduzkic and replaced him with Martinez, who has yet to find consistency in his play to start every game. Atletico Madrid will instead rely on a slightly past his prime Fernando Torres and in-form Antoine Greizmann for their goals tonight. Defensively Atletico know they have to shape up after conceding in their last 2 games, after previously keeping 4 out of 5 clean sheets in the league until that point.
Real Sociedad have struggled this season grabbing only 8 points from 7 games played so far. Moyes football continues to be in the same typical style that has been played for many years; take a point rather than a loss to keep the team in the hunt; which has seen them win just 1 game from those 7 while taking home 3 draw points. Sociedad are the 2nd lowest scorers in the league with just 6 goals in those games, and will need Agirretxe, Vela, Xabi Prieto or Canales to step up to find goals in the back of the net. Nothing much I like about this Sociedad team, who has the potential with those 4 offensive players to attack quickly on the counter attack, but are not fulfilling their potential so far.
Atletico Madrid will march into town as the favourites; but this game can go either way with Sociedad, either a 1-1 draw or they could be in for a mauling like they lost 3-1 to Malaga on the last match day. I think a good market to be involved in this is on the Asian Goal Line market, if 2 goals are scored you get a refund, if 3 goals are scored, then you make money at nearly evens.
