India v South Africa – Second ODI – RAJKOT
I Tahir – 39.5+ Performance Points @ 1.72 (Bet365) – 3 points
India take on South Africa in the 3rd ODI after turning around performances from the poor first One-day international.
Only one game has been played on this ground so far, as its a brand new stadium and we saw a foreign spinner Tredwell taking 4 wickets as England beat India by 9 runs in an exciting high scoring encounter.
Firstly, for the visitors Imran Tahir. Tahir has been the form bowler and in fact the form spinner of the year taking 34 wickets in 19 games; which is an average of almost 2 per game. In the last 3 games alone, he has taken 2 wickets each in the 2nd T20I and the 2 ODIs. His ability to provide a lot of variety in bowling as well as extract turn from tracks which offer just a little bit to the spinners has helped him. More often than not, you tend to see bowlers hitting him out of the park, but that is part of his strategy, to tempt batsman to take risks and often succumbing to a catch near the boundary or a stumping as they charge him down. The turn should definitely help him, and considering India’s recent slumps against spin bowling, I expect him to pick up those 2 wickets.
