As teams return from the international break, I look at 3 games that have a great potential to land us in the money to start of the weekend positively.
Swansea come into this game as one of the form teams in the Premier League and will be aiming to push forth their momentum as they have already pushed on to 4th place with 2 wins and 2 draws in their campaign so far. Swansea managed a solid 2-2 draw away to Chelsea on the opening weekend of the season, followed a 2-0 win at Newcastle, an unlucky 1-1 draw at Sunderland and then a good 2-1 win at home v Manchester United.
Andre Ayew and Baftemi Gomis have been the stars of the show so far, scoring all the 7 goals this campaign that Swansea have scored. Along with Montero, Shelvey, Sigurdsson and Cork; the 6 of them have produced some fluid and entertaining football for all of us to watch. Gary Monk has got the side believing that they can win games even against the biggest teams, and setting up his team with a lot of pace to counter attack at any opportunity that will be given to them.
Watford led by captain Troy Deeney have not had the best of starts in the Premier League, drawing 3 before finally losing 1 to Manchester City away from home in their last encounter in the Premier League. Watford’s big issue has been the lack of a reliable goal scorer in order to deliver goals needed to win matches, which has seen only one player score a goal from open play. Defensively they have been reasonably assured; but can succumb to intense periods of pressure as was seen in the game against Everton and Man City where they leaked in 2 goals in the second half.
Swansea on the Draw No Bet market is a great price tonight; and I have no hesitation in jumping on them immediately.
Dortmund: 2+ goals v Hannover @ 1.50 (Bet365) – 4 points
Dortmund AH-1 to beat Hannover @ 1.78 (BetVictor) – 3 points
Dortmund have been the toast of the Bundesliga ever since they have changed their manager and now look a super renewed side. 30 goals in 8 games so far; which over 3.5 goals per game scored so far this campaign. Aubamayeng, Mikhtaryian, Reus have been leading the scoring for them in the league with 2 goals each and will be aiming to replicate similar form. Their goal difference is keeping them at the top of the Bundesliga, and another win tonight will continue to keep them there.
Dortmund will look to this game and see that most of their players have done well on international breaks and some of them have added that fluidity to their national teams. Tuschel has set up the team hold the ball and then break on the counter attack at every opportunity. They have managed to keep it tight at the back and only conceded their first goal in the league last weekend.
Hannover come into this game in rubbish form having drawing one game by a score 2-2 and have since lost to both Leverkusen & Mainz without finding the back of the net. They sit in the relegation zone with just 1 point from their 3 games played so far, and things do not look optimistic for this side as Dortmund travel to town against them. They will not look at the fixture optimistically as they have lost 5 out of the last 6 games against Dortmund. They do not have any recognised striker; and with just 1 goal scored from their end; it does not look optimistic with Dortmund coming to town, that they will be able to be kept tight at the back.
I expect Dortmund to continue to run riot tonight and score goals as they have been in the campaign so far and win this game.
Rangers: 2+ goals v Livingston @ 1.50 (Bet365) – 4 points
Rangers & Over 3.5 goals v Livingston @ 1.95 (Bet365) – 3 points
Rangers v Livingston – Over 4.5 goals @ 3.25 (Bet365) – 1.5 points
Rangers have been in fine form to start of the Scotland Championship league this year; and will be determined more than ever to secure as many early victories as possible to potentially seal this ASAP, after narrowly losing out in the playoffs last year.
Rangers have now won 5 out of their 5 opening games, managing to score 19 goals in the the process while conceding just 3 goals to keep it extremely tight at the back. They have established a strong squad of players for this level with Waghorn, Holt, Miller, Taverneir, McKay and Wallace scoring 17 out of they 19 goals that they have netted so far in this campaign.
Tonight they take on a Livingston team who are bottom of the Championship with just 1 point from the 5 games played so far, having conceded 11 goals in that time. They have Raith, Queen of the South, Falkirk, and Greenock Morton who are all below Rangers in the table sitting in positions 2 to 5. They don’t look confident while defending which has been their weakness, but have shown some fight on the offensive end netting 4 goals in their last 3 games.
One expects another goal scoring festival tonight; and I am sure you all can look to the entertainment in this encounter tonight and bank on Rangers to deliver another solid performance.
