England Premier League
Swansea to beat Sunderland @ 2.10 (888Sport) – 2.5 points
Swansea head into this game against Sunderland full of confidence after beating Newcastle by a score of 2-0 and coming away with a 2-2 draw against champions Chelsea. They will look to this game against a struggling Sunderland who have leaked 7 goals in 2 games despite making a host of signings.
Swansea will turn to their star forwards Montero, Ayew and Gomis to try and conjure up a result against this weak Sunderland defence. Ayew and Gomis in particular have netting 2 goals in the 2 games, while Montero has been a constant threat on the wing creating chances as well as pulling defenders towards him. Montero’s performance against Newcastle was clear to see as he frustrated Janmaat into getting sent off last week. Defensively Swansea have been pretty well organised, and it needed some special performances from Chelsea to score past them.
Sunderland have really been struggling on the defensive end, and it might be a call for club captain John O’Shea to make an appearance this week to give some experience and solidity to the lineup. One might think Dick Advocaat might have made a mistake sticking on for another season; he will be looking to make a quick turnaround, or he could be sacked by Christmas. He has made some decent signings on the forward line having Defoe, Lens & Johnson up front as a good attacking threat, and have managed 3 goals in those 2 games; but those were against leaky defences in Norwich & Leicester.
Swansea should put in a solid performance this weekend and I expect them to turn out with another performance.
Crystal Palace to beat Aston Villa @ 1.85 (888Sport) – 2.5 points
Crystal Palace have come out this season in a more confident mood because Alan Pardew has started out from the beginning of the season. They started out whipping new boys Norwich City by a score of 3-1; and then put in a solid performance against Arsenal and were unlucky to come out with a 2-1 loss as a result.
Palace’s major strength has been their midfield lineup with Cabaye, Zaha, Bolasie, Puncheon & McArthur. With Zaha and Bolasie on the wings, they have a lot of wing play in the loop while Puncheon and McArthur have been the steady hands in the midfield since last year while Cabaye’s addition this year has added some creativity to their performances. Up front they will rotate opportunities between Bamford and Wickham; and they should have opportunities to put the ball in the back of the net.
Aston Villa showed us last week against Manchester United that they have pretty much nothing going forward with the exception of some few runs from Agbonlahor towards the front line. Defensively they have been pretty average over the past few years; and playing away on the road has been a struggle for them. Tim Sherwood made some signings including Richards and Amavi; who have shown to be susceptible including int heir pre-season games.
Im backing Crystal Palace to put in a solid home performance and secure the result today.
Leicester City v Tottenham – Over 2.5 goals & BTTS @ 1.95 (Bet365) – 2 points
Leicester City come into this game on the beginning of 2 great victories by beating Sunderland and West Ham so far and the tinker man Claudio Ranieri would be looking forward to continuing his good success pushing the team on for a victory in front of their home fans. With a bunch of new signings like Okazaki, Huth, Fuchs & Inler to name a few.
They have had a great start to the season from the great form of Maharez, Albrighton, Vardy who have all managed to find the net for them so far. Leicester managed to net 6 goals int heir 2 games so far, and this is a much better start than they have had last season. Defensively however, they have still ben struggling leaking 3 goals in the 2 games so far and things won’t look equally good for them as they are due to entertain Spurs in this encounter.
Spurs have been struggling and will have a point to prove after letting a 2-0 lead slip to drawing 2-2 in their last game around against Stoke City. Harry Kane had a host of chances in the last encounter against Stoke; and will be wanting to make amends as it has been 2 games so far that he hasn’t netted a goal. They have signed defensive options in Alderweireld, Trippier along with Davies; but the players have struggled to deliver the results so far.
These 2 teams love to play out entertaining fixtures as was seen last year where Spurs won 4-3 at White Hart Lane while it was a 4-4 draw at King Power Stadium; and one can expect a similar entertaining fixture tonight.
Man Utd v Newcastle – Over 11.5 corners @ 1.80 (Bet365) – 2.5 points (#INPLAYMAGIC)
