Leverkusen DNB to beat Lazio @ 1.85 (Bet365) – 2.5 points
Leverkusen travel away to Lazio having a great pre-season behind them and have already kicked off the season in fine fashion with a solid 2-1 win against Hoffenheim to have the team settled into to the new campaign.
Leverkusen will be looking to put out their strongest team in this match with Son, Bellarabi, Kissling, Calhanoglu and Kramer will be looking to both create as well as support the team on their goal scoring exploits. Defensively they have been pretty decent signing up Papadopoulos & Tah into their team to strengthen up defensively and keep things tight at the back. Leverkusen showed us in mid-week that they are pretty good on the counter attack, and will be look to take advantage of a slightly older Lazio team on the break.
Lazio have had a poor start to the new season, losing friendlies against teams likes Anderlecht, Vicenza and Mainz while finally getting thrashed 2-0 in the Italian Super Cup against Juventus where they were outplayed for most of the game. They have failed to make any big signings, and will rely on veteran Klose and Djordevic to lead their front line. They have leaked 2 goals in all those losses in the pre-season so far, so I won’t be surprised if their defensive frailties will be exposed again.
Leverkusen look the more solid team, and one can expect them to put in a good performance especially now that their season is under way, and I will back them on the Draw No Bet as insurance as they try and win this game.
