The greatest club competition in the world -the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE– is back with the qualifying round taking place tonight, and I have my eye on one game which looks to be a barn stormer of a game. This is a preview of the UEFA Champions League qualifying round game between Ajax and Rapid Vienna
Ajax have not been the team they once were and had to start of this campaign through the qualifying round, showcases some of the struggles they have had especially when the bigger clubs in Europe have been poaching their top players. Ajax have not yet started out their regular season, but a solid 2-2 result away from home at Rapid Vienna should give them some confidence of grabbing 2 aways goals in the 1st leg of this game. Both goals in the first leg were scored by midfielder Klaassen; and Coach de Boer will rely on him as well as Milik, Ghazi and Sinkgraven to put in the offensive effort, while they can also call on Danish hit-man Schone of the bench to provide a boost. Playing in front of their home fans, they will feel they could get the right amount of home support, that will help them put up the goals considering their away goal support that they have.
Rapid Vienna have played 2 rounds of their league season as well as 1 round of the cup along with their 1st leg tie in the Champions League to show how well into their season they are. Vienna have yet to lose a game this season, and have turned on the exploits in the goal scoring department, netting a minimum of 2 goals in all of the games played so far, while conceding 4 goals in 4 games. Vienna will also be thankful that they turned around a 2-0 deficit at half time, and then turned it around from 2-1 down with 10 men to find a draw; which will show you the character that this team is built of and will surely go in search of goals.
Ajax will not be worried if Vienna score 1 goal, but will want to put their foot on the gas from the beginning, and I expect a good chunk of goals in this encounter as both teams look to get into the next qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.
