We are back to post-weekend action with MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, with just a couple of picks for this evening.
England Premier League
Arsenal to beat Hull City @ 1.78 (Betfair) – 2.5 points
Arsenal travel to Hull City who are looking in ominous touch after winning 2 games on the trot against Crystal Palace and Liverpool; and both costed my losses. Today is a different kettle of fish, when you have a strong team who are motivated for victory in Arsenal, and actually have the firepower to deliver the results. Arsenal have not come 2nd in the Premier League since 2004-05 at the old Higbhury Stadium; and will be looking forward to delivering their best result in the league since moving to the Emirates.
Arsenal are 3 points behind Manchester City with 2 games in hand, and will look to make it count starting this weekend. Arsenal are expected to field their strongest possible xi including Ospina-Bellerin,Koscielny, Mertersacker,Monreal – Coquelin,Ramsey – Sanchez,Ozil,Cazorla – Giroud. Giroud, Sanchez and Ramsey in particular have been in decent scoring form, netting in the past few weeks except for last week’s dire 0-0 draw against Chelsea (who came to play for the draw). Arsenal have won all but 1 loss to Tottenham and 1 draw to Chelsea stretching back to New Years Day. This kind of good form and momentum will be something that Wenger will want his outfit to carry going into next season, but immediately to ensure that they come 2nd this campaign.
Hull will know they face an impossible task as they have lost everytime they have played against Arsenal in the league except for a 2:2 result last time around in the league back in October. Hull Since then have massively struggled, failing to keep up with that expectation that has seen them tumble down into the relegation zone, before climbing out of it in 16th spot. Hull’s biggest problems has been that of their ability to score goals as they are the 4th worst offensive unit coming into this game. They are going to miss several players including Snodgrass, Davies, Diame while Jelavic could take part on the bench in this encounter.
Arsenal will look to exact revenge on the game earlier that season, whose 2 points dropped, could have potentially kept the title race still going, but will look to return to winning ways against Hull City, much like they beat them in the FA Cup by a score of 2-0 in January.
