We are now in April, and with 2 months to go before the football season wraps up around Europe, the excitement will be all over the place with some exciting matchups to take advantage of.
England Premier League
Arsenal v Liverpool – Over 2.5 goals & BTTS @ 2.00 (Bet365) – 2.5 points
Arsenal will be hot favorites while taking on Liverpool in this encounter especially considering their recent form where they have won 6 straight games coming into this one. Olivier Giroud’s form especially has helped them progress to this stage, and they will be looking to win this to keep track with Manchester City who are one point ahead of them. Ramsey, Cazorla and Welbeck in particular have been in great form for Arsenal, and they have a very potent attacking force who will be out to score goals. Defensively Liverpool are missing Skrtel, Ibe, Enrique and captain Gerrard is suspended, which will have Arsenal licking their lips against this team. They were good defensively until they considered the 2 goals last week. They will not feel the best of confidence playing away from home with some key players missing.
Defensively Arsenal have been a mixed bag, conceding to poor sides like Newcastle, QPR, Crystal Palace and Leicester City in that 6 game winning streak, to leave a lot to be desired on. On the contrary the Liverpool attack have been extremely good ensuring to net goals in 7 straight games heading into this one. Form has been particularly led by a returning Sturridge, Coutinho and Sterling who have all been outstanding heading into the final stretch. They have won 5 out of their last 6 games, with their last loss coming against Man Utd in their last encounter before the international break.
I have gone toward over 2.5 goals and both teams to score which has landed in last 3 games between these 2 sides and 4 out of the last 5; and it should be an exciting encounter as both teams need to win to fight for champions league spots.
West Ham Double Chance to beat Leicester City @ 1.80 (Betfair) – 3 points
West Ham are travelling away from home to a struggling Leicester side as Allardyce aims to orchestrate their best ever finish in the Premier League since returning back from the Championship. While Hammers are missing a few key players such as Valencia, Tomkins and Caroll missing. West Ham had a poor streak but come back to winning ways last time around with a win over Sunderland very late in the game. West Ham will look to start with Nolan, Valencia, Downing and Kouyate up front as they aim to push a struggling Leicester to try and find a win to push them above Swansea into 8th.
Leicester have been struggling and haven’t won a game since a 1-0 win against Aston Villa in January. They have struggled to find goals for most of their fixtures, but more than anything they have been absolutely rubbish at the back. They have conceded 48 goals for the 2nd worst defensive in the league. They will be hoping to push for a victory to get them tied with QPR this week, but I don’t see how that happens when they take on a West Ham team who have beaten them in 3 straight over recent seasons including a 2-0 win in December.
I have taken the insurance policy on West Ham to back them on a double chance, as this price is unusually high for a team that is playing much better than Leicester at this stage.
