SOCCER SATURDAY is here in March and we hope to continue the decent form for the first few months to continue here!
England Premier League
Tottenham Over 1.5 goals v QPR @ 1.70 (BetVictor) – 2.5 points
Tottenham have been in some good form coming into this game in the Premier League and as they head away from home to take on a poor QPR side; they will fancy their chances to come out of this with a victory.
Tottenham were unfortunately held back to 2 no scoring games in the Capital One Cup and Europa League; but bounced back in mid-week with a 3-2 victory over Swansea City. Tottenham’s scoring form in the league has been really good scoring 2 goals per game in 8 out of the last 9 games, with all happening in 2015. The only game where they were held under 1 goal was the loss to Crystal Palace.
Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen have been leading the scoring for them, and Kane has now moved up to be the highest English scorer in the League this campaign. They have a great mid-field who have been chipping in with goals such as the likes of Chadli, Townsend, Dembele, Lamela to name a few.
QPR’s defense have been shambolic and I personally think Redknapp found the surgery excuse an apt one to run away from the troubling situation at the R’s. They have conceded 2 goals in 3 out of their last 5 games, and that has been due to their poor defense with slow defenders like Ferdinand, Dunne, Hill at the back. QPR also don’t have a good defensive midfielder to shield the backline from conceding goals. They will also have numerous absences today with Onuoha, Furlong, Dunne, Isla, Taarabt, Barton, Fer and Fuarlin all expected to miss out this game.
Tottenham are in good form and are looking to push for that 4th spot in the league and based on their current goal scoring record, I see no reason why they wont put 2 past QPR tonight.
Wolfsburg AH:0,-0.5 to beat Augsburg @ 1.90 (Bet365) – 2.5 points
Wolfsburg Over 1.5 goals v Augsburg @ 1.83 (Bet365) – 2.5 points
Wolfsburg have started 2015 in cracking form so far winning 7 games and drawing 2 games so far in all 3 competitions which they are alive in, the German Cup, Europa League and Bundesliga. In Bundesliga they have narrowed the deficit with Bayern to just 8 points and taking on Augsburg side who have been in mixed form they will fancy their chances for a win.
Bas Dost, Kevin De Bruyne and Andre Shurrle make up an extremely interesting and attacking front 3 for Wolfsburg, who are always creating chances as well as taking every opportunity available to score goals. In all the games that Wolsburg have won so far, they have smashed in a minimum of 2 goals, and that shows you the effect that the front 3 have had this campaign.
Augsburg have been a mixed back in recent week, after winning their 1st two games of February; have gone on to be winless in their remaining 4 games, losing 2 and drawing 2. In 3 out of those 4 games they conceded 2 goals, but were lucky with the results that they have had considering their poor defensive performances. Bobadilla and Werner have been their top goal scorers with 7 and 6 goals respectively, but have been scoring those goals from defensive positions.
I expect Wolfsburg to smash in a couple of goals, but also nab the victory here tonight.
Salzburg v Altach – Over 3.5 goals @ 1.88 (Bet365) – 2 points
Salzburg have been in good form coming into this contest, and while they got eliminate from the Europa League; those fixtures also proved to be high scoring ones. Salzburg games in most competitions are extremely high ones. They have scored 68 goals from 23 games in the league, an average of 3 per game; while also conceding around 29 goals form 23 games, just over 1 goal per game. They have been in good form in the league, winning their last 2 games by the score of 3-1 and 4-1; which will only give people more confidence of their performances.
Altach are sitting in 3rd place in the league today but are 12 points behind leaders Salzburg. While Altach generally have lower scoring games, their 2 games against Salzburg were extremely high scoring. Matches between Altach and Salzburg have landed with Altach win 4-1; Salzburg win 5-0 between the 2 sides this season so far. Altach have been poor away from home winning just 2 games out of 11 so far; and will only look to their confidence from results against Salzburg to try and push on for a victory today.
Goals seem to be a feature of most of Salzburg games, and I think this will continue to be the trend today especially when they are in front of their home fans as they average 5 goals per match at home.
