UEFA Champions League
Bayern Munich AH:-1,-1.5 to beat Shakhtar Donetsk @ 1.83 (Bet365) – 2.5 points

Bayern Munich travel away to Shakhtar who have not played regularly on their home turf, plus been out of competitive football since the Champions League finished and have been playing a lot of friendly games in that time.

Bayern started out the post-winter break session with a draw and a loss in the Bundesliga, but have now won 2 straight games with a 10-0 aggregate. All of their players look in great offensive scoring form including Robben, Ribery, Muller, Gotze and hitman Lewandowski. They will also get great support from the midfield Schweinsteiger, Bernat and Rode. They are strong favorites to win this Champions League and Bayern will be hoping to put in a strong shift tonight to secure the game from this away leg itself.

Shakhtar haven’t played on their home turf, played only friendlies and that has always shown to be difficult for teams from Ukraine and Russia because of lack of strong competitive football. Shakhtar will rely a lot on Adriano to score as he helped them score a lot of goals and land up 2nd in their group. They also have some experienced Brazilians in Fred, Wellington, Fernado and Bernard who will all aim to try and put in a performance a strong Bayern outfit.

Bayern have the firepower and should look to win this fixture considering their recent rise to form.

Chelsea & Over 2.5 goals v PSG @ 5.50 (Bet365) – 1.5 points
PSG v Chelsea – Over 4.5 cards @ 1.66 (Bet365) – 3 points

Chelsea come into this game with some decent form in the league winning goals by the narrowest of margins, but when you come to this big game in the Champions League; they will definitely have to step up in their game.

Backing Chelsea this week is good as they have had a decent 1 week rest as compared to most of their opponents. Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas will be extremely happy to be back in the playing 11 after being out with injury for the longest time. This will give them the added edge for tonight where they have a proven striker in Costa in good form while Eden Hazard have been scoring and providing assists to his team. These 2 sides met last year with PSG winning by a score of 3-1; but that was a different Chelsea lineup to this year. One that is more organized, got the right players for teh right roles as well as shown their good recent form as well.

PSG have been struggling especially due to numerous injuries that they are facing to the likes of Aurier, Cabaye, Lavezzi and Motta. There are also major doubts towards Matuidi, Marquinhos and Pastore. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Lucas and Cavani are the only player who is strong and fit in their front line to create an impact; but lacking the solidity in the midfield. Thiago, Luiz and van der Wiel have not been playing their best football on the defensive end. They showed that on the weekend against Caen where they were 2-0 up, while drawing 2-2 finally.

Both teams are likely to score in this high profile encounter, while Chelsea are smaller favorites in my opinion due to the injuries that PSG is facing. This is expected to be a exciting tie, and I expect Chelsea to nick this one, while there will be a lot of goals in this game.
