Looking to back some short but confident plays as I aim to turn around my poor NBA form.
OKC Thunder -5 to beat DEN Nuggets @ 1.83 (Bet365) – 3 points
The Oklahoma City Thunder will be in a huge confident mood after thrashing the Los Angeles Clippers last night by 23 points, and will look to carry that form while taking on the struggling Denver Nuggets who have won just 1 of their last 10 games.
The Thunder led by Westbrook and Durant, combined for only 48 points as they played only 30 minutes, while the rest of the team put in solid performance in their demolition of Clippers. Significant contributions from McGary, Ibaka, Waiters and Jackson who added 63 points among them really contributed to the success on the offensive end. Defensively everyone in the team chipped in and will be looking to continue a similar pattern when they play the Nuggets tonight.
The Nuggets have been extremely poor recently, losing 5 straight games with only Lawson being consistent in the team while Afflalo, Chandler, Faried and the others have been largely inconsistent and not delivering regular performances that would help this team put up a decent run of games. This season is a complete wash for the Nuggets, and it will be only a matter of time for Shaw to stay in his position. Denver have lost to poor teams like Detroit, Boston, Philadelphia, Charlotte in their last 4 games, and you can only expect another poor performance coming tonight.
The Thunder should take the victory as they aim to push the Phoenix Suns to secure the 8th spot in the West before the All-Star break.
SA Spurs -4 to beat IND Pacers @ 1.83 (Bet365) – 2.5 points
The San Antonio Spurs had lost last night against the Toronto Raptors in a close encounter, and will be looking to turn things around tonight against the struggling Indiana Pacers. In fact Spurs issues have been primarily on the road where they are 12-12; but will look forward to facing Indiana who they have beaten in their last 6 visits there. Spurs will feel that they played some excellent defense against Toronto, and will look to put in a similar effort against an offensively poor Indiana team. Spurs down side last night was their poor 3-point shooting where they scored 7 of 28 on 25% shooting; which they will look to improve in this game tonight.
The Pacers have won 4 out of their last 5 games, largely against struggling teams like Detroit, New York, Charlotte and with their only one good win was a 4 point victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Pacers have struggled offensively only averaging 95 points per game, and that is because their top scorer is George Hill with 14 points per game. This game will be largely reliant on the defense on both teams and who is most organized. While Indiana have some good team players, the experience and more solidity of Spurs should stand them in good stead.
Greg Popovich is going for his 1000th career win, and I expect the Spurs to get this tonight while covering the spread as they play their 2nd game on their long rodeo trip of 9 games.
