SOCCER SATURDAY is back in February, and looking to turn around my un-stable football form tonight with some confident plays.
England Premier League
Tottenham v Arsenal – Over 2.5 goals @ 1.83 (MarathonBet) – 2.5 points
Tottenham and Arsenal take on each other in the most fiercest of London derbies with a rivalry that has spanned many years and provided us games that entertains us all that has a lot of goals.
Tottenham have been in great form heading into this game with 5 out of their last 7 games having over 3 goals or more in their games and primarily a lot has to do with the form of 2 players; Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen. Kane has been given the license to roam around the front line and has been showing some killer instinct in front of goal, mopping up half chances off saves of his teams mates shot or goal keeper saves showing off us predator like skills. Eriksen is slowly becoming one of the most deadly free-kick takers ala Andrea Pirlo, and he has already scored 2 free-kicks in 2 straight games while also taking chances from out of the box.
Arsenal come into this game without Alexis Sanchez, but they have 2 pacey wingers to replace him in Chamberlain and Walcott while Olivier Giroud is starting to find his form in front of goal. Silently the best player for Arsenal over the past couple of months has been Santi Cazorla who has been creating a lot of chances for this team. He is also their penalty and free-kick taker, so that just gives him more opportunities to score goals. With the returns from injury of Ramsey and Ozil adds additional dimensions of support from midfield.
The matchups between the 2 teams at White Hart Lane have seen a lot of goals with 37 in their last 10 games, and I expect some solidly entertaining football in the game between these 2.
Chelsea AH-1,-1.5 to beat Aston Villa @ 1.95 (Bet365) – 3 points
Chelsea to beat Aston Villa @ 1.90 (Bet365) – 2.5 points (#INPLAYMAGIC)
While Chelsea are missing 2 important players in Costa and Fabregas, they showed us last week against Man City that they had the ability to grind out a good performance. Tonight they take on a struggling Aston Villa side who got smashed by a score of 5-0 against Arsenal, and have shown no signs of improvement to get a victory due to their poor performances on the offensive end.
Chelsea have typically shown us all season the ability to grind out victories and especially by a score of 2-0, which has been their favorite scoreline all season. Despite not having their 2 hit-men; Loic Remy has shown his ability up front with a goal against Man City. Eden Hazard, Oscar have also been stand out players for Chelsea up front, and they always have Drogba that they could call on off the bench to provide some striking ability. Chelsea will probably have their new signing Cuardado play at some point in this game, who will provide plenty of width on the right side along with a crossing ability as well as ability to finish in front of goal.
Aston Villa haven’t scored a goal in the Premier League since 20th December against Manchester United, i.e; 1 goal in their last 8 Premier League games which shows you the problems they have. Benteke, Wiemann, Agbonlahor, and now Scott Sinclair have all struggled to provide any impetus up front, and until they are able to turn this around, no one can see them not being in a relegation dog fight again with probably Lambert landing up getting sacked before the season ends.
Chelsea won the earlier matchup between these 2 teams by a score of 3-0; and will expect to give a confident performance today, and we even take the Asian Handicap relying on them to win this game by a 2 goal margin.
Man City AH-1.5 to beat Hull City @ 1.68 (Bet365) – 3 points
Man City to beat Hull City @ 2.25 (Bet365) – 2 points (#INPLAYMAGIC)
Man City v Hull City – Over 12.5 corners @ 1.80 (Bet365) – 3 points (#INPLAYMAGIC)
Man City put in a really spirited performance against Hull City Last time around and looked most likely to win last week against Chelsea in the 2nd half, but were unlucky not to get the victory. This time they take on a struggling Hull City who have lost 4 straight games without scoring a goal against average sides like Newcastle, West Ham and West Brom and also losing to the Gunners in the FA Cup. They conceded 9 goals in those 4 games without reply.
City have finally got Aguero back from injury while also trying to work back Jovetic and Dzeko back into the fold, Pellegrini will likely field a strong lineup to get goals. David Silva and James Milner have been in outstanding form for City in recent weeks, and one could expect them to continue that standing. The defense of Man City needs to step up ASAP as they have been conceding in almost every game, and you might even see Cabellero get a start today instead of Joe Hart.
Hull City have struggled as I mentioned earlier despite having Jelavic and Hernandez back in their starting lineup. They have been conceding for fun, but unable to get goals that can help them in this fight. Away from home Hull have been horrible winning just 2 out of 12 games, with one of them coming against a poor Sunderland team.
City should go for an all out attack in front of their fans, and I truly expect them to provide us an entertaining show tonight.
