Looking to back some short but confident plays as I aim to turn around my poor NBA form.
MEM Grizzlies -5 to beat UTA Jazz @ 1.66 (Bet365) – 3 points
The Memphis Grizzlies have been building up a 7 game winning streak after getting back Zach Randolph from injury. They have been overall 11-1 and the addition of Jeff Green increases the strength of their starting lineup, while also building up their bench. Gasol, Randolph are double double machines for this team, while Jeff Green also does his fair share of dirty work on the boards to ensure this is one of the top defensive teams in the NBA. The support of Conley, Lee, Udrih, Carter, Allen, Kofous among the cast helps them maintain the pressure even with the 2nd team on the floor.
The Jazz will be exhausted after a close 1 points loss to the Blazers in Portland last night and now have to travel back home to take on a tough Grizzlies is a big assignment to ask. Most of their best players including Hayward, Gobert, Ingles, Burke and Favors played over 34 minutes last night while contributing in all of their categories. Coach Snyder has shortened his rotation to 8 or 9 players, and that also can’t help the team develop a good set of momentum to try and win.
The Grizzlies got the advantage because of the great defense they play as well as the extra night’s rest that they have had.
BOS Celtics v DEN Nuggets – Over 200 points @ 1.80 (Bet365) – 2.5 points
The Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets have been outstanding for scoring especially when both of them play each other. They usually have high scoring games with 7 out of their last 10 games having the score go over 200 points. Their last meeting landed up at 199 but I am confident that tonight’s game can go overs.
Denver have been in bad form and have lost 3 straight and 9 out of the last 10 games. However, one thing is sure that they need a solid turnaround performance, and that can be a good thing on the 2nd night of a back to back when you play a team like Boston who aren’t the best defensive team in the league. They score on average of 100 points per game, which is in the top 15 in the NBA. In terms of conceding they have been on the losing end and conceding almost 104 points per game; which won’t bode for them well against a team like Boston who won last night.
Boston will be confident after the win against New York and will want to take charge against the Denver Nuggets in front of their home fans. The Boston Celtics have been 101 points per game on average, and this bodes well for them especially after they smashed 108 points last night with Sullinger getting out of a poor slump of form. They have Smart, Bradley and Bass in good scoring form. Also they have had Wallace, Prince not play last night, who should come on to play tonight.
The records at the spread show that taking on similar opponents is 4-1 on the overs for Celtics while 6-0 for the Nuggets; so Expect a lot of points tonight especially since both teams will be exhausted after playing last night, which should make defense lacklustre and points scoring easier.
