SOCCER SATURDAY is back in January of 2015 and looking forward to build on some momentum to delivery some good results tonight.

England Premier League
Tottenham AH-1 to beat Sunderland @ 2.00 (Bet365) – 2 points
Tottenham v Sunderland – Harry Kane Anytime Scorer @ 2.00 (Bet365) – 1.5 points

Tottenham have come into this game in the Premier League after their last superb performance beating Burnley in a turn around performance by a score of 4-2 after going down 0-2 inside 15 minutes and will ride on that confidence coming into this game. Prior to that game they had drawn a drawn game against Burnley and a poor loss to Crystal Palace after the successful New Years Day victory agains Chelsea; and the last victory was needed to get them back on winning ways.

In the League they have established some good form with just 1 loss in their last 6 games. Their recent form has come behind the influence of the success of Harry Kane. He has now scored 6 goals in his last 6 appearances in the Premier League; and will be looking to churn that form over especially against a poor Sunderland team. The midfield support of Tottenham are extremely creative with the likes of Eriksen, Lamela, Chadli and Townsend all looking to create chances for Kane as well as even score themselves.

Since November 5th, Sunderland have won just 1 game, the one that really matters for them against Newcastle. They have 3 losses and a draw from their last 4 games and their biggest problem has come from finding the right striker to score as they have netted 18 goals in 21 games. They have now signed Jermain Defoe who should make his debut off the bench tonight against Tottenham. While Defoe has the knack of scoring against any team he debuts for; getting back into the Premier League will be a little different because of the physicality that he has not gotten used to after playing int he MLS for the past year plus.

Defensively Sunderland are poor with the 3rd worst defensive record in the league conceding 33 goals while they have the worst goal difference with -13. The central defenders in O’Shea and Brown will have a hard time against the quick Tottenham forwards and I expect Tottenham to roll over them tonight.

Swansea v Chelsea – Chelsea over 5.5 goals @ 1.66 (Bet365) – 3 points (#INPLAYMAGIC)
Swansea v Chelsea – Chelsea over 4.5 goals @ 1.83 (Bet365) – 2.5 points (#INPLAYMAGIC)

French Ligue 1
Lyon to beat Lens @ 1.83 (MarathonBet) – 2.5 points
Lyon Over 1.5 goals v Lens @ 1.83 (Bet365) – 2.5 points

Lyon have been in great scoring form led by Lacazette who is the 2nd highest scorer in Europe after Cristiano Ronaldo; and his current form has helped Lyon lead the Ligue 1 over PSG, Marseille & St. Etienne. He has netted 19 goals in 20 games, scored 10 goals in his last 6 games and has also been ably supported by Fekir with 8 goals as well.

The scoring form of Lyon has been a result of their good performances and their victories, having found the back of the net 2 times in 8 straight games now and 10 out of their last 11 games. They have played their opponents Lens on the French Cup almost 2 weeks ago and that resulted in a 3-2 victory for them with all 3 goals being scored before half time itself.

Defensively Lens has been struggling and that is the result for them sitting in 19th spot in the table. They have a poor record at home winning just 3 of the 9 games that they have played all campaign.

Lyons current form has been outstanding netting 16 goals in their last 5 games, and with them kicking off before most of their rivals; they will put the pressure on them by extending their lead to 4 points with a win; and I expect them net a minimum of 2 goals in this game tonight.
