Looking to build some momentum after 2 straight winners last time around.
POR Trailblazers -4.5 to beat LA Lakers @ 1.78 (MarathonBet) – 3 points
The Portland TrailBlazers have been in great form with a 3 game winning streak headed into this one against the hosts Los Angeles Lakers. The Blazers have amassed a 8-2 record in their last 10 games on the way to a 29-8 record for the 2nd best team in the Western Conference.
Why you like this Portland team is that they are extremely deep. They have the talent in the starting lineup with Lillard and Aldridge leading the team with some great support from Batum and Matthews. With Lopez who is their starting center out, they rely on Chris Kaman (who otherwise plays off the bench). They also have a good group of reserves with the likes of Robinson, Blake, Barton, McCollom, Crabbe, and Wright. Today they also have a great defensive team and are keeping opponents under 96.5 points for the best in the NBA. They also maintain good offense by being the 5th best 3 point shooting team in the NBA, netting 38% on 10 shots for the 2nd highest 3 point makers in the NBA.
While the Lakers won last time around against a poor Magic team, but need to realise that about this time this season that they need to tank to the bottom 5 teams to have a chance at securing back their 1st round draft pick, that is top 5 protected for next year. Bryant is most likely out of this game, leaving the likes of Lin, Hill, Boozer, Young and Davis to do bulk of the scoring as they had done in the last games. But this won’t come easy against a strong defensive minded Blazers team who won’t let anything slip that easy.
The 2 meetings between the sides last produced a 98-94 victory for the Blazers in Portland; and they will be hoping that the 2 days of rest can help them make do on a good performance tonight and smash the handicap; which looking at their team, they should do so.
