UEFA Champions League
Arsenal v Dortmund – Over 2.5 goals @ 1.70 (MarathonBet) – 2.5 points
Arsenal and Dortmund are both sitting at the top of their UEFA Champions League group; with both looking for a victory in order to seal their postions in the next round.
Arsenal come into this game after a worst possible result a 2-1 loss at home to a poor defensive Man Utd squad as well as a 2-1 loss away to Swansea City just before the international break. Arsenal have now not got a win in 3 games, and confidence will be a bit shaken in this one as they take on an undefeated Dortmund from this Champions League group. Arsenal’s biggest problem in the Champions League has been their defense that has conceded 7 goals in the competition without a single clean sheet yet. Defensively they have been rocked by injuries to Koscielny, Debuchy and now have Szcesny & Wilshere off injured. The positive news is that there could be starts or at least substitute appearances for Giroud and Walcott; which can add a better attacking strength to Arsenal after they were unable to score a goal in a 2-0 loss to Dortmund earlier in the campaign.
Dortmund are having a pathetic time in the Bundesliga, but their Champions League form has been spotless winning all 4 games, scoring 13 goals and conceding only 1 to keep them top of their group. This season it looks highly unlikely that Dortmund are challenging for the title and not even for Champions League spots as they are 4th from bottom, and 19 points behind leades Bayern Munich. Their form however has improved winning 3 out of their last 5 games. They have however been in some good scoring form led by Immobile, Ramos, Aubamayeny, Mkhitaryan and Reus that have seen 4 out of their last 5 games going over 2.5 goals and they scored in each one of them.
This is going to be an exciting encounter as both teams will probably go for the win, Arsenal more desperate to put in a good show as the lads need some confidence as they sit in 8th in the Premier League; and I expect a lot of goal to come from it.
