The NBA season rolls on and we go straight in early on this time with a pick in order to try and take advantage of some poor lines early on.
WAS Wizards -2 to beat MIL Bucks @ 1.80 (MarathonBet) – 2.5 points
The Washington Wizards have just come out of a super motivating victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers while the Milwaukee Bucks came out form a 41 point smashing at the hands of he Toronto Raptors. Its clear to see from this who has the confidence coming into this game.
The line provided for the Wizards is short especially due to the back to back, but other than John Wall no player played more than 30 minutes for the Wizards. Wall was brilliant in all departments with 22 points, 6 boards, 7 assists and 4 steals. He got great support from the returning Bradley Beal, who started out from the bench but finished in the closing 5 lineup. The Wizards have been a strong team having some established veterans like Nene, Pierce, Gortat, Andre Miller, Kris Humphries who have all played a major impact in securing their victory last night. They have been particularly improved on the defensive end, keeping the Cavaliers to under 37% last night. Their bench also outscored the Cleveland bench 29-0; which shows you how these experienced players are contributing in a big way.
The Bucks are still a young and up coming team but got smashed 124-83 at Toronto, setting season lows in points and field-goal percentage (36.5). They struggled in the shooting department, rebounding as well to lack of assists showed you the lack of team effort that was there. The Bucks are completing a stretch of 4 games in 5 nights; and the teams they have faced in their last 3 games winning streak has been against Brooklyn, New York and a depleted Miami team; which will be completely different to the Wizards they are facing. Jabari Parker has been the only saving grace for the team last night, and he is set to become a star in years to come, but until then he will have to contend with working hard and improving this season for years to come.
Wizards to nick this game tonight.
SAC Kings -6 to beat MIN Timberwolves @ 1.66 (MarathonBet) – 3 points
Despite the Minnesota Timberwolves being at home, the injuries that they face will definitely hurt them. With Thaddeus Young (personal Reasons) and Nikola Pekovic, Turiaf out with injuries, its added the burden on 3 players young Bennett, Dieng and Mohammad; with 2 of them to be on the floor at anytime. Ricky Rubio’s injury means that young Zach LaVine has started at the point, but that is something that hasn’t proven to be effective till now. Kevin Martin shouldered the scoring load against the Knicks with 37, but he is out of this game with a fracture in his rest.
Last night the Wolves got absolutely demolished by the San Antonio Spurs and were held to under 96 points like I predicted with 92. Tonight however, they take on a more fresh Kings (who are not the best defensively); and will fancy giving them a go at it. Because of injury struggles, their key surviving players like Bennett, Willias, Wiggins, Dieng and Brewer all had to play at least 30 minutes in a demoralising loss.
The Sacramento Kings as I said will be extremely fresh entering this game owing to the confidence they will have after blowing out the Chicago Bulls 2 nights ago; who also faced injury concerns much like the Wolves are facing. They will also be looking to close out this game as early as possible, as they have blown out leading games by poor performances in the 2nd half. Gay and Cousins have always led the team in the scoring department, and Darren Collison is finally finding his feet at a starting position as part of a big 3.
The Kings will look to score fast out of the blocks, and they have been averaging over 102 points per game, and I expect them to be able to easily cover this handicap against the struggling Wolves outfit.
