Looking to turn around some poor form from the last couple of days with a good NBA performance tonight.
BOS Celtics -3.5 to beat PHI 76ers @ 1.67 (MarathonBet) – 2.5 points
The Boston Celtics have been pretty decent on the offensive end in their games that has seen them average over 107 points per game. They are a team completely in re-building mode, but little would have expected them to have won 3 games out of 9; and been desperately close to beating the Caveliers and Suns; which would have added to their victories against Indiana and Chicago that would have seen them probably win 4 in 5 games.
Celtics have relied a lot of their offense on Jeff Green and Avery Bradley, who have come out of the blocks in flying colors. The highest 2 drafted players in their lineup will be aiming to continue that form along with the supporting cast including Olynyk, Sullinger, Thornton, Zellera and Bass. Rajon Rondo has continued to be the best assist creater in the NBA and is averaging a league high 12 assists.
The Philadelphia 76ers have lost all of their 10 games so far this campaign, and have been blown out by an average of 17 points so far this campaign. The 76ers owners know that their long term vision is to build a team full of young talented players through draft picks which will probably stand them in good stead come the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons. Today only Carter Williams and Wroten average double digit scoring for them, and their offense averaging 88 points per game has been the pure cause of their down low form.
I am expecting Celtics to put their last 2 close defeats out of their mind and go on to grab a positive result against the 76ers.
NY Knicks +3.5 to beat MIN Timberwolves @ 1.70 (888Sport) – 2.5 points
The New York Knicks will be extremely disappointed to come extremely close after being down by almost 20 at one point against the Bucks, before losing by 4 in the end. The Knicks will be extremely happy for a couple of reasons from their performances last night with the likes of Shumpert (21 points, 8 boards and 8 assists), Tim Hardaway Jr (24 points) and Amar’e Stoudemire (14 points, 5 boards and 4 assists) all giving a strong helping hand to Anthony who had 26 points himself to a good performance.
The Knicks will feel that the team is finally settling down, and improved their play. Despite losing, their margin of defeat has been smaller, less than 5 points in their last few losses. They have seen improved shot taking and their field goal percentage was a good 55% last night and even going 44% from down town.
The Wolves have numerous injuries to contend with, which might see too many players play a lot of minutes. With Thaddeus Young (personal Reasons) and Nikola Pekovic, Turiaf out with injuries, its added the burden on 3 players young Bennett, Dieng and Mohammad; with 2 of them to be on the floor at anytime. Ricky Rubio’s injury means that young Zach LaVine has started at the point, but that is something that hasn’t proven to be effective till now. Kevin Martin will have to shoulder bulk of the scoring load; but with Iman Shumpert guarding him, it might not be as easy as he is a good defender on the perimeter.
This game will run close; I am taking a few points on Knicks but I still expect them to win against the struggling Wolves outfit.
