Looking to turn around some poor form from the last couple of days with a good NBA performance tonight.
CLE Cavaliers -3 to beat ATL Hawks @ 1.67 (MarathonBet) – 3 points
Both Atlanta and Cleveland are coming from strong victories last night, and will be looking to continue their respective run of victories. The Hawks are back on 4 straight while the Cavs are on a roll of 3 straight games.
Lebron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love have finally started getting their understanding of each other and the games are extremely fun to watch in recent weeks. Whether its the Love NFL style passes, the Irving Alley Oops or the Lebron James cut through passes or inside out; it has been tremendous. Last night was a true testament to the improvement in their play, where they came back from 17 points down in the final quarter to turn it into a 1 point victory. The supporting cast of Marion, Varejao, Waiters and Thompson have been on a great run and supporting the big 3 towards good performances.
The Atlanta Hawks were always going to win last night when Miami did not have Dwayne Wade in the lineup. The Heat went down to just 1 superstar, but despite his best efforts they could not stop them. Perimeter defense will be extremely important as the love to shoot the 3 pointers led by Kyle Korver, Teague, Antic and Schroeder. The Atlanta Hawks have been 2-2 away, will look to their improving defense to help them stay in check but have been poor with a -3 differential.
Cleveland have lost too many games for my liking, and they are due for a major win on the handicap tonight.
SA Spurs to beat SAC Kings @ 1.83 (Betfair) – 2.5 points
The Spurs are now back to full health with almost all of their players from the finals last year now available with the exception of Paddy Mills who was already set for a few months out and Splitter and Belenelli who are both day to day. The big 4 of the Spurs in Duncan, Ginobili, Parker and Leonard are now all healthy and after a solid run of 3 straight victories, take on the Sacramento Kings who are on the back of 3 game losing streak.
The Spurs are considered short here only for the reason that they played last night. But if you saw the box score from last night, you will notice limited minutes for the big 4; Duncan (25), Parker (30), Ginobili (25) & Leonard (18). They had a lot of effective contributions from players like Diaw, Joseph, Baynes, Bonner and Green. The depth of the Spurs especially their bench outfit, is one of the strongest in the NBA averaging around 35 points per game. Its a bit down from last seasons average of 43, because a lot of the bench players landed up starting in the first few games until all their players are back fit and firing.
The Sacramento Kings rely a whole lot on Cousins, Gay and Collison, and when they have a bad game, it clearly reflects in the poor performance of the team. The Kings in their last game completely dominated the Grizzlies, only to lose to a buzzer beater shot and a 4th quarter comeback. Prior to that they have had some losses to Dallas and Oklahoma, both of which you expected them to run close, but lost by an average of 10 points. Bench production will be extremely key but other than Landry, the Sacramento bench has come up empty at critical times.
The Spurs have gone back to their winning ways, and a victory here will solidfy their stance back among the West elite as they would have beaten all 4 of California’s teams on this 4 game road trip. I definitely think they will win this.
GS Warriors – Over 53 points in 1st half @ 1.86 (Bet365) – 3 points (#INPLAYMAGIC)
