The NBA season rolls on and we go straight in early on this time with a pick in order to try and take advantage of some poor lines early on.
POR TrailBlazers -5.5 to beat CHA Hornets @ 1.67 (Bet365) – 2.5 points
Portland have started out extremely strong at home winning 4-1 so far, and looking to continue their good form. Aldridge and Lillard have landed up scoring over 45% of the Portland’s points this campaign, and both of them continued their form from last season. Head Coach Terry Stotts is watching his players minutes while considering they are playing 4 games in 5 days, but have the advantage of the home crowd tonight to take them over the line. Wesley Matthews and Robin Lopez have been contributing in a big way, both averaging in double digits as well to add some scoring power. The bench strength of the Blazers is really one to worry about for opponents as they include Blake, Kaman, McCollom, Robinson and Barton; all of whom have proved themselves when given ample opportunity.
The Bobcats have struggled away from home. This stretch of poor form has stretched to 3 games so far, and lost 6 straight against the Blazers away from home, which could land up being 7 tonight. Bobcats were relying on Stephenson, Kidd-Gilchrist and Marvin Williams to be consistent contributors through out this season, but they have been far from it so far. All 3 are averaging less than 9 points per game. Last time around this team were extremely poor, beating the Lakers by 6 before blowing it off completely in the second half to lose by 15 points.
The Blazers have been traditionally strong at home, and I expect them to cover this spread tonight.
TOR Raptors Over 105.5 points v ORL Magic @ 1.83 (Bet365) – 2.5 points
The Toronto Raptors are already among the leaders in the NBA going 6-1 so far along with Memphis & Houston. The result of this has been due to their high scoring nature so far averaging 107.1 points which is the top in the NBA and when they take on opponents like the struggling Orlando; I can definitely expect them to rack up something similar.
When these 2 teams met 10 days ago, the Raptors exploded on them at Orlando’s home floor beating them 108-95. The Raptors can thank their back court duo of DeRozan and Lowry; who are averaging almost 40 points a game between them. The Raptors just went off in a big way against the Philadelphia 76ers by beating them 120-88 with Vasques, Lou Williams, Johnson, Valancuinas and Ross also exploding for double digit points.
Toronto will look to exploit this poor Orlando Defense who have been allowing 102 points per game, but haven’t played any playoff contenders other than Toronto (who scored 108) and Washington (who scored 105). Toronto also have a night off tomorrow, which will have them looking to explode and score a lot of points tonight.
