UEFA Champions League
Shakhtar AH-1.5 to beat BATE @ 1.71 (BetVictor) – 3 points
Shakhtar will be looking to dominate their opponents BATE Borisov after they beat them 7-0 last time around led by Luis Adriano who smashed 5 goals on that ocassion. He will be hoping that the return of BATE will spark a return to form, as he went 2 games scoreless since then. Shakhtar have moved to 2nd in the table after that big win against BATE and are now 5 points from 3 games. A win tonight will take them to 8 points; and as they say on average you need around 10 points to qualify, which is what they will be aiming for.
BATE were all over the place in their last game getting one of their worst beatings in a number of years of this competition. In addition to the 7-0 loss, they also lost 6-0 to Porto in the earlier away from home, and that can’t bode confidence for them after seeing some of those results.
Shakhtar have been good all season just losing 3 games all season but remain undefeated in the Champions Leauge; and should grab all 3 points tonight against a BATE team who could be completely out of the tournament tonight.
Chelsea AH-1.5 to beat Maribor @ 2.00 (Betfair) – 2 points
Chelsea have been in stupendous form so far this campaign whether it be in the Champions League or the other competitions. They have been on an undefeated run since their Champions League semi-final loss to Atletico Madrid. They have since strengthened by snatching 3 of those players from Atletico Madrid in Luis, Costa and Courois (their loaned player).
They have drawn only 3 games this campaign which was against Schalke, Man City and Man Utd and will look to continue their great scoring form as they have done despite just 1 fit striker at times. Drogba is scheduled to lead the line again as Costa will be rested and probably come of he bench if required. Defensively this is the best chance for them to try and improve as they have conceded in their last 3 games. Chelsea might want to go and express themselves early on with an early first half demolition to have players rested ahead of the Liverpool game on the weekend.
Maribor on the other hand know that they have no chance to get out of this competition. Even their manager says that they do not stand a chance to qualify and that their Slovenian league is the most important priority for them at this stage. He expects to start the best possible team he has at his disposal, but based on their 6-0 thrashing last time around against a slightly weakened Chelsea squad ahead of the game with Man United, this game also could be another rout.
Expecting Chelsea to nail this game by at least 2 goals.
