The NBA season rolls on and we go straight in early on this time with a pick in order to try and take advantage of some poor lines early on.

NBA Basketball
HOU Rockets -8.5 to beat PHI 76ers @ 1.67 (MarathonBet) – 4 points
James Harden to score over 26 points @ 1.90 (MarathonBet) – 2 points

Houston Rockets come into this game after a 3-0 start after beating Lakers (18 points); Jazz (11 points) & Boston (14 points) in their opening games. This team is looking to improve itself in order to push on towards crossing the 1st round of the playoffs after a number of years. They are getting good contributions from Terrance Jones (16.7 ppg); Trevor Ariza (15 ppg); Dwight Howard (16.3 ppg) and not to forget their main man James Harden (25.3 ppg). James Harden has been in outstanding form since last year and even during the summer with the USA team and aims to continue that this campaign. Harden is also the teams leader in assists (7.3) and steals (1.7). They have improved defensively as a team and the experience of Jason Terry and Trevor Ariza helping them at the defensive end.

PHI76ers are in pure rebuilding mode and are expecting to continue in the same way with 3 straight losses, 2 by 12 points to Milwaukee and Indiana while also getting smashed by 18 against Miami. The team are currently focussing on developing their talent, no matter how much people think they are tanking. A lot of their players will be in great shape in a number of years to come but so far none of them have had a major impact; and I expect them to continue struggling here.

Houston to smash these 76ers tonight.

LA Clippers (Griffin over 24 points) v UTA Jazz @ 2.00 (MarathonBet) – 2 points

LA Clippers come into great form going 2-1 so far this campaign; and the biggest reason for their loss last night was the struggles faced by Blake Griffin who only netted 17 points compared to the 39 and 23 he netted in the 1st 2 games.

Blake Griffin will look to be quite angry to turn it around tonight and go in guns blazing aiming to take advantage of a slightly smaller and in-experienced lineup with Utah Jazz. Blake has drastically improved his ability to get to the line, getting his average from 4 to 10 times per game, which is helping with his scoring. He has also developed a decent jump shot, that he stroked well in the opening 2 games, but missed out the last 2 chance.

In last years meetings between the sides Blake scored 20, 25 and 40 last season against the Jazz as he helped the Clippers go 3-0 against them, and I am sure he is waiting to burst out especially after yesterday’s performance.
