SUPER SUNDAY football is back in November, and we have a truly exciting lined up this week.
England Premier League
Man City v Man Utd – BTTS & Over 2.5 goals @ 1.83 (Bet365) – 3 points
Man City and Man Utd come into this Manchester Derby both knowing that they need to win to keep up with the title race and with Chelsea by securing victory in this game.
Manchester United will be pumped up heading into this game after snatching a last gasp draw against Chelsea in their last encounter. The added benefit tonight is that United welcome back Talismanic captain Wayne Rooney, who has undoubtedly scored the goal of the Premier League all time in this derby 4 years ago. RVP will be looking to turn around the years to get back to the form that he showed over the 2011-12 and 2012-13 season, scoring 20 goals in each of those season and the late winner last time should get him motivated. United however, cannot contain themselves on the defensive end, continuously leaking goals and I expect something similar especially since Smalling expected to start at centre back, who has been the weak link.
Man City are going through their worst spell in a number of years losing 2 straight games against teams who have historically been lower than them in the likes of West Ham and Newcastle. What was surprising against Newcastle that they leaked 2 goals on their own home turf without scoring despite almost a full strength lineup. City welcome back Aguero to their lineup and he should land some scoring impetus to them. The creativity will be a bit lacking with Silva missing, so expect City to start with 2 strikers with Nasri and Navas on the wings.
This game is ripe for lots of goals and for both to score considering both their striking form and poor defenses. This pick would have landed in 3 out of the last 4 meetings between the 2 sides, and should easily flow through tonight.
French Ligue 1
Bordeaux AH:-0.25 to beat Toulouse @ 2.00 (Bet365) – 2 points
Bordeaux head into this game looking to push on for a second victory against Toulouse in one week after smashing them 3-1 in the French Cup. Bordeaux put up a almost a full strength lineup up in that game that secured a a 3-0 lead before 61 minutes and will be expected to put in a similar performance tonight.
Diabate started the game and netted for Bordeaux and will now welcome back his strike part Rolan to join him in the scoring efforts. Bordeaux have been extremely solid at home winning 3 and drawing 2 games to keep them undefeated and they will look to make home ground advantage count especially in this game after shutting them pretty tight on their floor.
Ben Yedder did not have the best of nights for Toulouse in their French Cup game despite playing the full 90 minutes; and that will give Bordeaux a better understanding on how to contain him. Defensively Toulouse have been struggling and that has now seen them drop 3 straight games in a row. Toulouse remain scoreless in 3 out of their 5 away games, and you could expect that lack of confidence on the road, could come back to haunt them tonight.
Bordeaux should expect to win but I back the Asian Handicap for a bit of insurance incase it lands up being a draw.
Spain La Liga
Sevilla DNB to beat Athletic Bilbao @ 2.18 (MarathonBet) – 2.5 points
Sevilla come into this game in hot form looking towards a run of victories that has seen them challenge at the top of the La Liga table. A win today would see them take an outright lead at the top of the table and extend their run to 7 games unbeaten and 4 straight in La Liga.
The strength of their team has just picked up with the return of Kevin Gameiro which gives adequate support to Carlos Bacca up front, and that is what saw them last week come from 1-0 down to snatch a late 2-1 win over Villareal. Sevilla will have more to focus on this game as Bilbao have the looming distraction of UEFA Champions League in mid-week where their performances have been lacklustre to say the least. Bacca also gets enough support from Duelofeu, Sanches, M’Bia and Aleix Vidal who have lended good support from midfield with goals and assists.
Bilbao have been struggling winning just 1 of their last 10 games and that is purely down to their poor scoring performance of 6 goals in just 9 games. Offensively there is an over-realiance on Aduriz to score who has netted 3 out of those 6 goals for the team. Bilbao look like a team who are too big for their shoes after their European exploits seem to have distracted them from the bigger picture in the La Liga, and I expect Sevilla to go right at them to secure a win tonight.
