SOCCER Saturday is the final one for the month of September, with some exciting action taking place in across Europe in some big games.
England Premier League
Liverpool v Everton – Over 11 Asian Corners @ 1.83 (Bet365) – 3 points
Liverpool v Everton – BTTS & Over 2.5 goals @ 1.83 (Bet365) – 3 points
Liverpool and Everton jump into this Merseyside derby after a bunch of poor losses on their record and they sit in 11th and 14th respectively which is quite unusual looking at their form in recent years. Both teams have showed a lot of vulnerability in defense and this is what actually contributes to their poor performances.
Everton have kept just 1 single clean sheet, that too against a poor West Brom team, and that has been the cause of Martinez’s worry for them sitting so low in the table. Sylvain Distin has been a liability due to his slow movement and this age; and most likely Martinez will go for experience in this game instead of a younger more athletic Stones who could manage better especially against the quick Liverpool forwards in Lallana, Balotelli and Sterling.
Liverpool on the other hand have been almost identical keeping just 1 clean sheet against Tottenham and conceded in all the other games. Their defensive efforts have been poor and doubts are creeping in a lot on whether Simon Mignolet was actually the right first choice keeper especially when you had Pepe Reina on the books till the beginning of this season. Every Liverpool game bar 1 has seen over 2.5 goals; which also shows you on the high scoring efforts happening.
This is the Merseyside derby which is one of the most attacking and aggressive derbies in England. You will not see any team hold back; and you will see a lot of goals go through in tonight’s game.
Crystal Palace v Leicester City – Ulloa Anytime Scorer @ 3.00 (Betfair) – 1.5 point
Man Utd v West Ham – Over 3 Asian Goal Line @ 1.67 (Bet365) – 3 points
Man Utd have been in tremendous scoring form in recent weeks especially with their addition of their newer players have had a 4-0 and 5-3 game week recently. Man United have been vulnerable in defense through out their games. While they were lucky that QPR didn’t have a good attacking threat, they were exposed on the counter attacking by Leicester City; and I expect something similar from West Ham specifically with Enner Valencia in this great form early on in his campaign.
Man Utd will need captain Wayne Rooney to hit form soon, and while he has been close to netting a couple of weeks, he just hasn’t found his killer instinct in front of goal. I expect Falcao and Rooney to start up front with Mata playing in the hole, which should be good for Rooney as Mata can create some great opportunities. Angel Di Maria has been in absolute stunning form, scoring in last 2 games while also creating assists in the last 2 games, which has been fantastic for the United faithful.
West Ham showed us last week on why they are not a pushover, by beating Liverpool 3-0; with goals from all across the pitch so far. They have netted 5 goals in their last 2 games, which shows their attacking threat up front is going to be good. Hammers have generally not been good travellers, but Big Sam has a better outfit to deal with this year, and expect goals to flow at Old Trafford this week.
Arsenal v Tottenham – Over 19 Asian Corners @ 2.10 (Bet365) – 2 points
Spanish La Liga
Villareal v Real Madrid – BTTS & Over 2.5 goals @ 1.90 (Bet365) – 2.5 points
Villareal v Real Madrid – Over 3 Asian Goal Line @ 2.00 (Bet365) – 3 points
As we had into the Spanish La Liga fixtures for this weekend we have 7th place Villareal hosting 6th place Real Madrid. Yes, 6th Place Real Madrid.
Madrid have been absolutely shambolic in defense and with their goalkeepers in recent weeks where they have actually conceded in all but one of their games in competitive action this season. The liability of Pepe & Casillas, I believe is one of the reasons why they keep leaking a lot. Another reason is the sale of Alonso and the non-starting of Khedira who were defensive minded midfielders who could go back and shield the defenders from the counter-attacking threat from their opponents.
Villareal have been doing well in recent weeks and put in real working performances, scoring in all but one of their games, but have been struggling to keep clean sheets. they have kept clean sheets, in only the 1st two games of the season, and since have been leaking at least one. They have yet to face any strong opponent who is in scoring form like Real Madrid. Although they played Barcelona, Barcelona were still adjusting their team out after some of the sales through the summer.
Expecting a lot of goals as Real Madrid will aim to continue their great scoring form, which was why this team was estabilished; and I expect Villareal to net one at least to help push it over the lines.
