SUPER SUNDAY football is back with all the latest leagues kicked off.
England Premier League
Tottenham v Liverpool – Over 2.5 goals @ 1.75 (Betfair) – 3 points
Tottenham and Liverpool head into this game in opposite ends of the spectrum, where Tottenham were top of the table last week, Liverpool were languishing in mid-table after a thrashing defeat in mid-week to Manchester City.
Liverpool for this game welcome back to the Premier League today Mario Balotelli, who should play a role in this game, probably even start the game from the beginning. Liverpool has seen their offense struggle with the sale of Suarez, but are hoping the Italian hit-man can make an impact to lead them to the title that they so badly crave. Liverpool will rely a lot on the creativity from mid-field from the likes of Coutinho, Sterling, Gerrard and Henderson to create opportunities for them up front. Defensively Liverpool are looking out of sorts, with Loveren and Skrtel still not bedded in well along with Mignolet, and it looks like it will take a bit of time for the communication to be clear.
Tottenham come to this game full of confidence after 2 big wins against London rivals West Ham and QPR, and will be aiming to continue their good knick coming into this game. The forward players Chadli, Lamela, Adebayor and Eriksen have looked extremely fluid; well adjusted with each other and are all looking for goals. Under Pochettino, Tottenham are playing with much more flair and attacking intent, which teams would have not expected of them. He replicated a similar performance in mid-week in the Europa League, and will be expected to play in the similar vain.
With Liverpool scoring and conceding a lot in recent times, expecting plenty of goals in this game.
Arsenal to beat Leicester City @ 1.87 (Betfair) – 3 points
Arsenal come into this game high on confidence after snatching a late draw after going 2-0 down against Everton and also qualifying 1-0 in the Champions League against Besiktas. Wenger will know his team just have to see out this game with a win, and that will take care of them for another 2 weeks, so that his players can catch some more form on the international break before coming back into the team.
Arsenal look a little more assured defensively mid-week with Mertersacker and Koscielny back in the central defensive partnership. This I think gives Szceny a lot of confidence, and expect his performances to step up moving forward. The midfield of Arsenal relies on one man, Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman didn’t play in mid-week as he was suspended and will be extremely fresh to help his team win and probably even extend his goal scoring run. I expect Sanogo to start up front today with Sanchez and Podolski probably partnering him up front leaving a midfield trio of Ramsey, Flamini and Wilshere to rull the roost.
Leicester City started out with a draw against Everton, a loss to Chelsea but embarrassment came only in the mid-week Capital One Cup game as they lost out to Gillingham, which will bring down the confidence of the team. Leicester’s biggest problem has been defensively, and Kasper Schmeichel is showing some signs of not being up to the highest level due to his small built body. Cambiasso should make his debut, but will still take some time to gel in with his new team mates. They haven’t offered too much up front with Wood, Nugent and Vardy; and unless Pearson signs a good experienced forward, the only way is probably down for the Foxes.
Expecting the Gunners to snatch a win in this narrow victory tonight.
